Cardiff Riding School is set in a green oasis of parkland not far from the city centre, and attracts well qualified staff who offer private and group lessons for all levels of riders, from beginners upwards. You can also learn about stable management, and their courses are fantastic if you’re planning to get your own horse at any point. There are about 40 horses stabled there, so it’s a fairly big operation, and it’s also well equipped with indoor and outdoor riding schools, areas to go hacking out, and some cross country facilities. Another thing worth knowing about this place if you have kids is that they can teach children from the age of four onwards, unlike many riding schools that can’t /won’t pay for the insurance for such young riders — but equally it caters for adult learners of any age. My riding instructor there was really professional, knew what she was doing, and got good results out of her classes — so I’d defintiely recommend this school if you’re thinking of learning to ride. The prices are very reasonable for group lessons, too — £9.15 for 30 minutes, or £14.65 for 60 minutes. To get there from Gabalfa Roundabout, head to Tesco traffic lights, then go straight over the bridge, turn left into the park where the river bridge finishes, drive between two big pillars, and the Riding School is on the left after about 300 yards.
