Crafty Sew & Sew

The curiously named store, apart from the pun on words is a specialty supplier of sewing garb, thread, machines, and all the accessories you would ever need to become the next designer on the high street.
With all good stores it is full to the brim and slightly on the large size for a store that sells needles & thread. The store lacks fabrics but with at least 5 fabric shops around it must get all the passing trade. All you student designers, OAP sewing champions, and general sewing fiends have found the shop that matters to you most by patronizing this shop.
The closest fabric supplies from butterfly and terry’s fabrics, will get you on your way or just help you make that next fancy dress costume.

Awesome name and there I was thinking Baguette me not was clever. I had been looking for nice haberdashery store as I do like to modify clothes I buy at charity shops.
There is a great range in store with everything you need in terms of sewing (except fabrics although there is a fabric store just down the road). As well as your haberdashery items there is also lots of arts and crafts if you already or are looking to take up a hobby. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and are always willing to give advice or point you in the right direction if you’re in need of guidance.

I am so incredibly amused by the idea that this shop is mostly frequented by older women with the time to spend making things, or perhaps stocking up on supplies as they embark on creating pretty things for the next WI sale, and I just love imagining their faces when they realise what the bright pink shop suggestively named ‘Passion’ sells next door.
Or how they direct their friends to this place, and whether they tell them that it’s the shop next to the «adult» shop. I bet that gets a few embarrassed giggles at WI meetings.
Amusement at its neighbour aside, Crafty Sew & Sew is a great shop for anyone who already does a lot of crafts, or for someone looking for a new hobby. By no means is it just for Grannies; there are plenty of arts and crafts supplies appealing to a variety of interests and age groups.

And the winner for the best named store in Cardiff goes to… CRAFTY SEW & SEW! Seriously, how awesome is that name for a haberdashery? It’s right up there with «Curl Up and Dye» for a hairdressers in the Epic Pun section of awesome shop names. That earns the store three stars right off the bat.
The full four stars are of course earned by the fantastic personality this store has, that the name hints to. Surrounded by like-​minded stores and Passion Online (which, depending on what kind of «arts and crafts» you’re into, could be called a peer I suppose), this shop is ideally placed to take advantage of the bevy of supplies the other stores have.
If you’re an old craftsmen looking to pick up supplies from a new store, or if you’re looking for something to occupy your time but don’t especially know what that is yet, pop in and have a sniff around. The staff are always helpful and if you don’t, you’ll be missing one of the more interesting stores on City Road.

Crafty Sew and Sew has the dubious pleasure of being located directly next to the ultra pink adult shop Passion Online at the Newport Road end of City Road. Whilst this business has opted to carry a cheeky little name that may occasionally raise an eyebrow or two, they have definitely been upstaged, in the controversy stakes, by their immediate neighbours!
In many other ways this is the ideal location for this old-​style craft shop. It is surrounded by fabric stores, many of which are within a minutes walk from Crafty Sew and Sew, and with companies like Calico selling sewing machines, and Butterfly Fabrics carrying some fabulous materials, as well as some really large fabric stores with phenomenally extensive stock ranges like Fusion, Crafty Sew and Sew couldn’t be in better company. All of these businesses support the fundamental drive behind Crafty Sew and Sew, offering patrons of the shop plentiful choice where fabrics are concerned.
Crafty Sew and Sew offer a good range of craft items and ready-​to-​make kits of all descriptions. A visit to the shop is an inspiring experience, and the people that work there are only willing to help. If you are looking to take up a hobby, but are not sure of which direction to go in, I advise a trip to this little Pandora’s Box of delights. The advice you will get will be invaluable, and the choices available are impressive, and cater to everyone’s budgets.
