I love Deli Rouge. I could end the review there but I guess I should go into some detail. Deli Rouge is always consistent with their food and offerings. I love everything from their breakfast sandwiches to their lunch sandwiches. In fact, my fiancé is convinced that I am trying to try every sandwich on the menu. Their service is also great. I’m pretty sure I walked in there one morning when they were not open, yet they still served me. In addition to their delicious sandwiches they offer great cheese, chutneys and cakes! They have so much to offer and for this I am so happy they are only down the street from us.

I could go on for an eternity about the good points about Deli Rouge; at first you may get the impression that it’s a throwback to a by-gone era where everyone did their shopping at the butcher and the bakers but seriously it’s a happening spot. When I visited Deli Rouge I was pleasantly surprised by jazz music being loud enough so you could enjoy but not so much it would be impossible to have a decent conversation with someone. At the Deli counter there is an array of cheeses and although I haven’t bought one myself my friend vehemently regards their garlic roule coming into existence through divine intervention. In the fridge offers an assortment of different drinks including the ‘Victorian lemonade’ which has always been a favourite for me What really caught my eye was the selection of sandwiches that for the life of me I can’t remember them all but what I do know is they’re loosely based around tastes of different countries. I opted for the spicy sandwich and if you do get a chance to visit you’ll know exactly which one I’m talking about(it made my eyes water, in a very good way). The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly and asked me what bread I wanted and not seeing any bread in front of me he just pointed to behind me and there was selection of rustic bread rolls ‘pick any one and just pass it over’ he said it was great it really felt like this sandwich was my own. It’s a little pricey at Deli Rouge but very much worth it, there is space to sit have a tea or coffee and just enjoy the ambiance, which is great for any time of the day and sandwiches are incredible.

Re-discovered this little gem last week and I am glad I did! A great selection of wonderful food on offer and you can even sit inside(or out) to enjoy the warmth and buzz of the place. If you like your whole foods and weird and wonderful honeys, oils etc. etc. then you will love this place. I popped in there for one of my old favourites turkey, brie & cranberry on whole wheat bread and to wash it down I tried 2 of their ranges of Fentmans drinks which have been«botanically brewing for nearly 100 years» what a treat! Love this place!

I spent a very pleasant Sunday afternoon with a group of friends here. This is a lovely little deli in Roath that also has seating areas inside, out front and in a back garden. They have a massive selection of sandwiches and fillings, including all the standards and some little extras like homemade apple chutney and haloumi cheese. Superb. I can thoroughly recommend the Farmhouse sandwich(honey roasted ham, mature cheddar, salad and chutney), as most of our group all independently ordered the same thing. This led to a funny moment when the first sandwich was delivered and we all threw our hands into the air and laughed. This is a family run business and has a wonderful busy, cosy and slightly haphazard feel to it. It’s a fantastic place to sit and while away lazy days.
