Yes, I would come here the next time I visit. I didn’t get a chance to eat but had some drinks and met some WONDERFUL people. This made us fall in love with the Welsh and their history. Because of the wonderful patrons of this bar, we have already discussed going back to Wales and exploring the small towns and more of the culture.

ordered chicken blt, and it was awful, cold bacon, no mayonnaise, and bread was not toasted, chips were cold My friend wanted a vegetarian chilli with her jacket potato and was told yes but charged an extra 50p. Needs unpdating and current ‘manager’ needs to work on his people skills. Barmaid though was very pleasant.

This is a great local pub that we discovered while staying in Mermaid Quay. Great pub food, reasonably priced drinks and a friendly crowd. We tried the fish & chips and shepherds pie. Both were excellent and good sized portions at good prices. There is an outside garden the fills up quickly with people stopping by after work.

Eli Jenkins is quite out of place in Cardiff Bay, but certainly in a good way. While every other place is a restaurant or a wine bar Eli Jenkins is just a pub, and little more. They do decent food and the drink prices are a lot cheaper than the wine bars nearby. It’s also one of the only places you might be likely to watch a football match, if you’re so inclined. It’s a friendly, open pub with a good beer garden to while away an afternoon down at the Bay. The development down at Cardiff Bay has drawn in lots of people, and I think it’s fantastic, but some of the places are simply too expensive, so this is where Eli Jenkins finds its custom as a cheaper alternative and a traditional pub.

If ever a pub were suited to a hot summers day than to any other climate, the Eli Jenkins would take the crown. The inviting open gates lead guests immediately into the large outdoor seating area, a hugely popular and vibrant spot during the summer months. With a large amount of seating, the outdoor ‘beer garden’ area enjoys the benefits of being directly in the sun light, with the vast number of socialites basking in the rays whilst enjoying their refreshing beverages. Inside, the pub is tastefully furnished, if a little dark. The atmosphere is typically fairly vibrant inside as well as out, yet one cant help but feel the real place to be lies in the beer garden. With a reasonable selection of traditional pub fare, customers can also enjoy decent meals and cheap prices, although expecting too high a quality of meal will only lead to disappointment. A nice pub, with the outdoor area, particularly in the summer, the main attraction.

Eli Jenkins is one of those pubs that lets you sit down, have a drink and talk with your mates which is exactly what I want in a pub that I go to. At reasonable prices, the pub offers a range of different meals and desserts along with a full bar to satisfy your drinking needs. I have been to this pub many times mainly in groups. In my opinion this place is great for groups especially if you all want to sit in the beer garden to enjoy the sunshine drink a cider and have a smoke if you are a smoker. On nice days the beer garden can get extremely crowded and busy so it’s potluck if you manage to get a table when sunny. The last time I went to this pub was when the world cup was playing. There were plenty of T. V screens playing all the games from the tournament. They are in ideal locations by tables and chairs so you get a good view. It is a very relaxed pub with not much noise and helpful friendly staff. As I mentioned before they do offer a variety of food at good prices. They go from meat dishes to vegetarian dishes. Try the desserts too; those chocolate fudge cakes made me crave some more. If you fancy a nice afternoon/evening out with a group of friends then Eli Jenkins is a great pub to enjoy some music, drink some alcohol and have a good time.

What I love about this pub is it’s character. It exudes a charm of «oldy worldiness» completely outfitted with a dark wood panelled interior and comfortable seating and a beer garden that has probably the largest pub outdoor seating capacity, ideal place for those who smoke to meet friends that don’t. The beer garden is also discrete and is unnoticed from the street. The reasons to go are the great pub meals, I go for their great full english breakfast after a heavy night out, it’s very reasonably priced for the bay. On nights out or just a lunch time meal, its also ideal to be able to have a conversation without the sound system droning out the words. The wood interior is very different to the other venues in the bay. Good for conversation with mates with great food and a well stocked full bar. Every time i’ve been in the day its quiet and useful to get away from the bustle.

Eli Jenkins is cheap but not necessarily cheerful. It is only cheerful if you ignore the indifference unwelcoming attitude of the staff who invariably like to get through serving as many customers as possible with minimum of personal interaction. I can only put Eli’s popularity down to its location and competitive prices as the décor hasn’t been touched in 10 years, the toilets leave a lot to be desired hygienically and the food is just a little better than passable. I have been to Eli loads of times and have often asked this question to people I’ve been with: Why is this place so popular? Maybe you should go and find out for yourself.

Eli’s is my usual haunt when I’m feeling the financial pinch. Perfect for a cheap tipple — you can order yourself a few drinks(or a hefty round for friends) and still have change from a tenner. And I always appreciate a pub that caters to its smoking patrons as well. On the cold, winter evenings you can stand outside(at a table with a secure umbrella, no less!) under an array of heaters and still enjoy your cigarette. Inside, it’s the same as any other pub, but Eli’s is immense for people watching, attracting the friendly and gregarious from all walks of life(an afternoon well spent for a tourist-cum-local like me). Eli’s offers a selection of food, but I’ve yet to sample it — from a glance at the menu, it seems like your standard pub grub, but it bears no pretentions — Eli’s does what it says on the tin.

At the heart of Cardiff bay close to Mermaid Quay situated in renovated block of buildings. Eli Jenkins is a spacious pub which also serves food. What I really like is that the type of cliental is varied, yet everyone feels comfortable, and gets along fine. The interior is well maintained(not always the case with some pubs), and there is a sizeable outside yard with wooden tables and chairs(good place to sit and chat on a warm summers evening). I must admit the bar staff are rather on the slow side, which really started to get on my nerves. they do have a good selection of beers including Brawn and Amstrels(good to know if you’re a fan of beer). I didn’t sample the food but it looked like your pretty basic pub fayre. Also they do tend to play quiet loud music, so really not the place to go if you want some peace and quiet. The pub is in a very good location for the Wales Millennium Centre or a drink before or after a meal at one of the restaurants in the bay.

Cheaper than a cheap thing that is cheap. Eli Jenkins is a great pub to go for food and for a cheeky lunch time drink. As mentioned, it is a lovely place to hang outside in the summer, it’s just unfortunate it’s next to a building site at the mo and cannot see the water in front. I’ve spent many sunday’s here and is perfect for an hour or two if your looking to save a bit of money. There’s a real chilled out vibe here as well and attracts a wide assortment of groups. It’s funny as inside feels very dark whenever you come in to

Whenever my grandparents come to visit from Ireland there is always a virtual tug of war over where we’ll eat for lunch. Having lived in Cardiff for most of their lives before relocating 5 years ago they think they are the authority on absolutely everything. This inevitably clashes with my hip young know it all attitude so when a choice is made one side ends up sulking. Luckily we have Eli Jenkins and so the likelihood of the inevitable sulk becomes less when we factor in this lovely little pub. Definitely an outdoor place because of the big beer garden, though on a sunny day you may find yourself relegated to the dark and pubish indoors because everyone else has had the same bright idea. I like it because they have corona which I can drink with lime, my nan likes it because she can have her gin and tonic and my grandfather likes it because he can drink some obscure real welsh ale that no one under 50 cares about. Wins all round.

Whilst this is a little out of the way for me, it is a great pub. I love to visit it in summer, when it is a little busier, and everyone’s looking that lunch-time drink before they totter out blinking into the sunlight. It’s great for making you feel a little bit artsy, too, but without any pretensions. The décor is pink and cream which could feel a little cutesy, but it’s protected by wooden furnishings. They have TV screens but I fail to see the point of going to this pub to sit inside(despite the attractive decoration) because, to me, it is a summer pub. It is for grabbing a drink and taking it out immediately to the outdoor seating area. Also, not really my bag, but they do serve real ales which are always a hit!

One of the ‘proper’ pubs in the Bay, the Eil Jenkins offers good value food and drink in an area where prices are more expensive in the cosmopolitan area of Cardiff Bay. The food is ok. You can get a baguette, chips and a pint for around £4 and the do meals susch as Bangers and Mash, Fish and Chips, Steak and Ale Pie, and Jacket Potatoes. The pub gets popular when the football and rugby is on, and it is also popular with for aftershow drink from the Wales Millennium Centre, often filling up with the Cast and the public.

Great atmosphere, cheap beer and a great place to drink in the Bay! However, the staff arent all that friendly and it can take a while to get served — especially when the place is jumping!

This is a great little in Cardiff Bay it serves good food and reasonable prices. It has a friendly atmosphere a it is nice and small for Cardiff Bay. It is in a good location close to everything. It always has sport on the large tv screens. Well worth a visit if going to Cardiff Bay.

The Bay’s only budget pub, it’s like a Wetherspoon’s but with poorer service and inferior food. At quiet times it’s a bit of a find in the bay because it’ll have plenty of seats, indoor and outdoor, and the drinks are cheap. However if you head there at a busy time, prepare to get very frustrated at slow food(not in the good sense of Slow Food), bad service and not getting somewhere to sit. Timing is key.

Great little pub for those heading down to Mermaid Quay — reasonably priced drinks but I’d give the food a miss as it’s rather naff and quality isn’t always guaranteed — esp if they’re busy. Can get very very busy both inside and outside in the evening so be prepared to stand if you’re heading there on a night out.

This is not the best pub down ‘The Bay’ however its range of beer is better then most. The staff are rather unfriendly and the local crowd don’t seem to like students or tourists However as said before the beer is good and so is the food. Worth a look, and if you get on with the locals it might be worth staying for another pint.

Great place to eat gets really busy, especially in the summer as there is seating outside.. up market pub and locale, it attracts a cosmopolitan mix of art performers(the lounge is called the ‘Stage’), concert goers, tourists and business people. A much cheaper place to eat as its the heart of the bay and some places can be very pricey. Wouldnt really suit people who like real peace and quite. Real ales, tv screens,(plasma) disabled access.
