I’m a guy. I’m a guy who likes video games. I have a DVD collection that includes at least four Batman movies and all of the Lord Of The Rings(extended versions). I have a book collection that is in the early thousands. I say all this to let you know that when it comes to jewellery I am a blank slate. I don’t know what’s good, or what’s bad, or what’s in fashion or not. I know what a ring is. And about 50% of the time I can tell the difference between a bracelet and a necklace, but that’s as far as my expertise carries me. Luckily, Ernest Jones are a caring bunch. I walked in there, looking bedazzled and confused by the array of shiny, glittery things and the staff took me under their wing. They asked me what kind of thing I was looking for. «Necklace.» Ok, what metal? «Dunno.» Ah. Well what does she like to wear. «These things(description).» Hmmm. Perhaps some white gold. What colour are her eyes? «Blue.» Excellent. How about this. «Pretty!» And she loved it. So thank you, Ernest Jones. Thank you for not scorning me and being as helpful as you could. I salute you, sirs.

This is certainly one of less pretentious jewellery shops in Cardiff but offers just as good a service. I can’t a lot of stuff from some of the jewelers in town but I know I can at least get something here. A problem I have is that I can’t wear stainless steel so a lot of high street accessories just bring me out in a rash. I don’t want to spend a fortune but I do need to buy real silver. Maybe the products they have aren’t the very latest fashionable but I have got some pieces from here. And as I said the service is good and the staff are friendly. They do specialise in watches and diamonds, so might be worth checking if your after a engagement ring!
