Hasapiko Taverna

Having been to Greece quite a few times, now and again i have to have a bit of Greek food or I go mad. I stumbled across this place quite by accident during one of these moments.
When we went in I think they had only just opened and we were the only ones there which made me feel a bit uncomfortable. But after about 20 minutes suddenly a whole crowd of British born greek people came in who were obviously related to the folks running the place.
The noise level went up quite a few decibels and suddenly we were back in Greece. The buzz was amazing. There were also a lot of children running around who were adorable and wanted to get to know us which was quite funny.
As it’s an authentic place I had the squid. I expected some calamares and I had a whole battered squid which was bigger than me. My brother who doesn’t do fish, looked like he was about to faint at my wrestling with this creature from the deep, had stifado a meat stew which was good. The only negative was I think they didn’t do baklava. Had a great night and some great food.

I’ve been to better Greek restaurants than this one but its an OK sort of place to get your fill of Greek cuisine. I think the problem is Cardiff doesn’t have many Greek restaurants so the competition isn’t great. You could say it has a homely feel, but when I go out to a restaurant I’d like to feel that I’m somewhere special and I didn’t really get that here.
The staff are very friendly and the food is good, and if your lucky you’ll find yourself in the middle of a cray party.

After visiting Kos last year I can not get enough things Greece like. The people were so friendly, it was nearly 40 degrees everyday and the food was magnificent .
Hasapiko, a form of dance by the way, is right up their with the places I visited on holiday and transported me straight back there upon stuffing my face with a load of feta cheese.
As Laura said, staff are so lovely here and can’t do enough for you. I had a lot of fun while we were hear and made a few of the staff laugh with my 5 Greek phrases I barely remembered from holiday.

There is nothing quite like Greek food. I always find that Greek food leaves you feeling full and satisfied in the most lovely way — not too heavy, just perfectly happy. The whole feel of this place is excellent. You may find yourself beginning to believe that you are in Greece and not sitting in a restaurant hearing the rain pour down outside. The service is absolutely fantastic — it all adds to the atmosphere of being in a family home, welcomed and loved and wanted. The food itself is gorgeous and it worth returning to on its own. I cannot find one thing that I don’t like about this place… I recommend that you go and try to find something that you don’t like. It’ll be hard!

Hasapiko is a very Greek restaurant and I’m not only talking about the food, many Greek family’s come here and definitely put on a show! It’s a pretty cheerful plate smashing atmosphere after a while the Greek live music transports you to a different world and you forget your in Heath all together! The food is traditional and well cooked and you certainly get a lively meal, not the best of places to take someone on a first date but you know, what ever floats your boat!
