My first impression had to be confusion with ‘Le Rende Vous’ because it appeared to have two coffee bars. There was one in the middle of Queen’s Arcade and then a little dining area for the other bar. This confused me slightly and I wasn’t sure where to go. I decided to sit in the dining area. I ordered myself a coffee and a cake. I went towards the end of the day so it ended up being very quiet in the café but that wasn’t to say it was a bad thing because I enjoyed the peace. I ordered a latte that was lovely and not at a bad price. Together with the cake it cost me around £5, which I thought was very reasonable. But for me it didn’t have anything that made it stand out that would make me want to return. It was a nice relaxing area and I sat and drank my coffee in peace but it needed that something that would make me return again. I’m not saying it’s a bad café but with all the high standard cafes scattered around Cardiff this juts didn’t feel very special to me. I would recommend going to ‘Le Rende Vous’ because they do have a nice selection of drinks and cakes. Who knows, this could be the ideal place for you!

Were I writing this as the slightly less debonair and much less sophisticated fifteen year old me, I’d probably be a lot more derisive of this place. The outdoor seats, we were told, are only for paying customers so could we, we were politely asked, get our McDonalds milkshakes off the tables, get our selves out of the chairs, get our skateboards away from the café and kindly go play in traffic. This did not please fifteen year old me and his friends. We had just discovered the word«anarchy», so one of my friends decided to stick it to the man. One tipped over table later, and we were racing out of sight to hide behind the church. I came back, one day a little while back. Put on my gentlest smile and prayed they didn’t recognise me. Didn’t want them turning around and mentioning to the girl I was with that I was one of the little tossers who damaged a priceless, French table that his nan had left him in her will just after she had smuggled it out of Nazi-occupied Poland. I’m glad I did. This is a wonderful little café, situated in a lovely spot overlooking the park. Get here early if you want to get seated. If not, get it to go and sit in St. James gardens across the way.

I love this place, reminds me of getting the bus to the big bad city when i was a mere aadolecent and having a bagette and a cup of tea and thinking i was the height of sophisitcation! Le Rende-Vous is situated on the ground floor of the Queens arcade and has lovely outdoor seating for those summer months or even those rare, dry winter days. The seating looks out to St James’s garden which is as nice a view as your likely to get smack bang in the middle of the city centre. This place could possibly be home to the nicest ham and cheese baguette I have ever consumed and I would class myself as a bit of an expert in this particular field. This place usually busy but despite this service is quick and polite and the food is reasonable too. Le Rende-Vous mainly offers sandwich’s, baguettes and cakes but the variety is nice and you can have pretty much exactly what you want. The chocolate fudge cake is really something to behold and every time I’ve left Le Rende-Vous i’ve had to un-do my top button!

Le Rende Vous is a summer café for me. Based on the ground floor of the Queens arcade with lots of outdoor tables looking out on the Hayes and St James’ garden. Food wise its pretty much sandwiches and cakes, with drinks. Its pretty average but at least its somewhere nice to sit. When it rains or its a bit cold you can sit inside off to the side of the arcade. Service is fairly quick and prices are reasonable.
