Tried it tonight for the first time. Got a variety of food. Tried a couple of curries, biryani, stuffed mushrooms, kameer rice. All very good, well-spiced and carefully crafted. Got takeaway, but the restaurant and bar were nice, people very polite and professional. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I understand people saying about the lack of atmosphere. However; when I tend to go to curry houses Im a few beers in :-/although it was noted, the food was really good, fresh and hot. The peppers and onions in my jalfrezi were crunchy and perfectly cooked. Loved it :-)

Fantastic! We went on a Saturday and the ambiance was fine, it was busy, but not too nuts, and the food and service was spot on. This is the best Indian food we have found in Cardiff so far, and I’m so happy that we finally tried it! The food is not too greasy, not bland, not too spicy. It is full of flavor, and absolutely delicious! Highly recommended!

Saturday night is not the best time to eat here. Service was stretched, with confused orders, items missing and food arriving cold. It took nearly 25 minutes just to get the bill! Atmosphere is lacking — with no music, the acoustics are awful so that the hubbub of conversation is overwhelming making it even more difficult to match orders to dinners.

When it comes to restaurants, there’s one maxim that every single one of them absolutely must adhere to: Good food can save a bad atmosphere, but good atmosphere won’t help bad food. And Mowgli’s is living proof of this maxim. Inside, you’ll find a relatively flat, desolate kind of place. Sure it’s tastefully decorated and whatnot, but ultimately it feels a little lifeless. It’s usually deadly quiet in there, which is the ideal atmosphere for an Italian date restaurant, but less so for an Indian curry house. It becomes less intimate, and more exposed. Instead of pockets of quiet, there is a vast desert of silence except for you and your company and EVERYONEELSEISLISTENING. It’s almost like everyone else is waiting to come here on Wednesday night, which is the aforementioned buffet night. Head here any other weekday, and you’ll find the waiters are practically tripping over one another to serve you because they haven’t seen another human in days. Wednesday night, however, is packed. And with good reason. The bustling atmosphere and good food creates a wonderful culinary experience for only £12.95. Wednesday is the night to be here.

Mowgli’s is best visited on wednesday banquet night for a full menu choice of courses or sunday for a 5 course set meal and at £12.95 you really cannot argue but expect the service to be rushed as people cash in on this offer. Banquet night in my opinion is the best value for money Indian sit in restaurant offer around the Crwys rd area. The interior is spaces and light. They have very basic wooden furniture that can be less than comfortable. The toilets are kept clean and presentable. From my experience I would definitely go again, try some of the monkfish dish or the spiced king prawns. As curry houses go Mowgli’s is a winner unfortunately it’s location is less than desirable for a evening date, but for larger groups I would take a look.

The Indian food at Mowgli’s(named after the loveable Jungle Book character) tastes fresh and full of flavour, isn’t greasy, and is reasonably-priced and served up in generous portions. They claim to offer ‘Indian cuisine re-invented’ — and I suppose their menu is quite refreshing. For a medium hot dish, try the tasty South Indian style monkfish(with spices and coconut milk). If you fancy a bit of variety, their taster menus for two or three people offer you the chance to share several different dishes ranging from fairly mild to rather spicy, so is great if you feel like being adventurous but don’t want to put all your eggs in one basket. The restaurant itself is simply designed but spacious; and they even have clean toilets — so almost top marks all round, really. My only gripe would be that when we ate there the service wasn’t brilliant — fairly friendly, but a bit slow.

Had my first experience of Mowgli’s at the weekend and I certainly was not disappointed. I don’t think their flavours are quite as distinctive and delicate as some other Indians I love in Cardiff but the food was tasty, plentiful and a bit cheaper than many. Décor wise I wasn’t overly impressed, hard back chairs and wood tables didn’t fill be with a sense of ‘ow this is nice’, but it was clean and adequate. We went on Wednesday which was Banquet night. All you can eat including seafood and ice-cream for £12.95. Everything tasted fresh and the veggie dishes especially were great. Fantastic was to check out a new place and sample lots of their dishes.

This restaurant claims to be cuisine… Well, I wouldn’t say that really. It isn’t up to the standard of some of the other Indian restaurants around the Cathays area. However, that isn’t to say that this isn’t good food. It’s actually great food. Quite scrummy and reasonably priced. The service isn’t that amazing, to be honest, though I suppose it was acceptable. Though, if a restaurant thinks that it is serving ‘cuisine’ I do feel that it should have a matching level of service. Clearly they secretly know that their food isn’t as good as advertised… Great for a meal out but you’ll probably forget about it. When people say Mowglis, they’ll have to add ‘you know, on Crwys road, you went there with steve’ and then you’ll twig.
