Fairly swift in dismissing families with children. Avoid.

Unlike some local pubs, where you may be greeted with a scowl of disapproval if your choice of clothing gives you away as an outsider, this has a welcoming environment. It’s a reasonably small pub with plenty of places to sit outside(if the weather is so inclined to allow you to) with heaters and umbrellas for those braving it anyway. It also has a sheltered smoking area out the back. Beer prices are cheaper than a lot of places, a Brains Smooth is only £2.40 a pint. The food’s decent, serving usual pub favourites as well as having Curry Night offers and Sunday Lunches. It also hosts Quiz Nights on Wednesdays and Sundays from 9pm, Sundays being the more popular quiz night. Make sure to get there before half past 8 or you’ll be hard pushed to find a table left on quiz nights. Don’t expect to win, though, unless you are part of the infamous ‘Dragonites’ who invariably win every week. It is yet another traditional pub that has been taken over by a chain, this one’s Ember Inns, but considering that is the case it hasn’t completely lost its charm. A quiet, old pub to chew the cud in.
