It was about time that Paperchase got their own store in St Davids 2 because it was a very popular place to shop when it was at borders and House of Fraser. For all your stationary needs, there is nothing that Paperchase doesn’t offer. I love the variety of choice of things they offer on everything. You need a pen? Then you have all the choice in the world! You need some wrapping paper? Which colour and pattern do you need? Paperchase is a bright and vibrant store with staff members that are always polite, friendly and willing to help if you need anything. I have purchased many items from there including gift bags that are at a great price if you don’t want to spend all that time cutting some paper and sticking tape. Did I mention they sell tape too? They also have some amusing postcards that became very useful to me when writing to some pen pals. They are at a great price too. I think the reasonable prices of their items are what keeps it a store I like to return too. Paperchase is an excellent stationary store with great service that will keep making you want to return.

Most Paperchase shops are pretty much the same in terms of stock, so if you’ve been to one you have a pretty good grasp of what all the others have on offer. This is a fairly large store, long and thin, with plenty of good cards on sale as well as all the usual patterned notepads, pens, pencils, pencil cases, tins and other accessories that I find hard to resist buying. I last visited this branch because I’d bought a birthday card which I found didn’t have an envelope inside the sealed up plastic packet it was in. I went back — receipt and card in hand — to see if I could get the matching envelope, but they didn’t have the same card and the assistant couldn’t find an alternative envelope to fit the card. I ended up just buying a different, new card instead! Although she was very pleasant, I did think I should have been offered a refund because the she had actually said that the envelope ought to have been inside the plastic packet! So, despite loving this shop, it has to lose a star because I ended up shelling out double just for a birthday card!

Perhaps it’s my age, perhaps now that we actually have a Paperchase the novelty has worn off, but whilst I used too love this store it now seems a little too young for me. Whilst Paperchase used to sell girly stationary, some of the patterns on their notepads are now rather childish in my opinion. Additionally a lot of the products in store are rather pricey so you really have to decide if their worth it. They do sell some rather nice blank cooking, beauty, travel, and gardening note pads, and I will sheepishly admit to have purchased all of them(their great for organisational freaks like myself). On a positive note the store is quite big as Paperchase stores go, and the selection is good. It’s a great store for school kids, university students will be pushing it slightly, and if you want to be taken seriously not one for the over 25s.

If this shop had existed when I was in school, then I would have blown hundreds of pounds every year before the start of school, during that must-buy-new-stationary-to-be-cool period. As it stands, now I have a job(meaning more pocket money), and spend throughout the year instead. There are two things in life that I never feel guilt over when I buy them: books and stationary. They are useful and academic, and just by owning them you’re a better, more rounded and intelligent person. Ahem. So I quite like Paperchase. It’s an organizer’s dream; pens and folders and stickers in all manner of designs which are beautiful and functional. A neat little tip is that they sell packs of scrap coloured paper for £1, and tiny cute stickers… Me: ‘If you get this next question right, you can choose the sticker for your workbook!‘ Mature Student: ‘Yay! Can I have the caterpillar eating the apple?‘ This shop is fun for all ages!
