Superdrug

While this Superdrug is infinitely better than the one on Queen Street, I often find myself going to Boots a few doors down instead. Superdrug is cheaper than Boots, and it’s not like Superdrug is a bad store, it’s just that the Superdrugs in Cardiff don’t seem to sell the right things. This is specific to Cardiff, as every city I’ve visited in Cornwall and Devon has far superior Superdrugs. In those Superdrugs I can always find what I want, whether that be a specific brand shampoo, a hair dye or a lip balm of Superdrug’s own. In Cardiff, however, Superdrug just doesn’t work as well.
The only thing this store has going for it that is possibly better than Boots, is the make-​up. Not only is it cheaper but there seems to be more of it here than in the Albany Road Boots (though obviously not the bigger Boots stores).
The pharmacy is disappointing, as is the range of perfumes, but it’s still worth checking out the offers on everything else.

Albany road Superdrug is a discount cosmetic and beauty store that has many discount brands and compares well with Savers. The discounts are forever changing so it’s difficult to know whether you are getting a bargain.
I rarely use Superdrug but it can be useful for hair products. It’s conveniently located on Albany rd so there’s plenty of space to park down one of the side roads.

I’m always quite pleasantly surprised but the range of products that are available in these stores. Superdrug is in itself its own brand, and does some products which are cheap and tacky (namely the makeup and the body sprays). But there are some things which are extremely good value for money and are good products. My personal favourite is the contact lens solutions which I swear by!
This shop certainly doesn’t feel quite a nice as a Boots store might, it’s definitely the cheaper version of the two. But that’s not a thing that’s really going to put you off nipping in to pick up essentials like toothpaste and shampoo.
Superdrug does most of the brands we are familiar with, and the kinds of things that we might find the local supermarket. Where it falls down is on higher end products, such as Clinique, Benefit and Clarins. You’ll just not ever find them here, to put it frankly.
Despite the name, this shop also isn’t quite so good at providing pharmaceuticals to the nation. While you can get basic painkillers and the like, if you’re after other medicines this probably isn’t the place for it.

Superdrug has a wide range of cosmetics, perfume, skin care products and hair styling products. All cosmetic brands are reasonably priced, generally the same prices as other similar stores although they do have the odd good deal. Varied perfume range not as extensive as Boots. Staff are always Helpful and can point out a good product. Central Location to other main shopping areas.
