A perfect place to sit outside enjoying the last of the sun with a beer! Great location away just out from the town centre/Bay area. Inside, we sat in the covered area. A neat little space as you feel like you are outside(minus the cold). The staff were great and I really enjoyed the food — best vegetarian burger I have had so far! Food was reasonably priced. A live band were about to start so we took our dessert into the main bar to listen. It was a really nice relaxing atmosphere and the music was great and got us singing. Added bonus of being about to play pool, made the night. Would come back again if I am in Cardiff.

I regularly stay at the Holiday Inn Cardiff Bay and use this place as it’s directly opposite. I have always found the food good quality at a reasonable price and being a Brains pub the beer is very reliable. Some of the staff are less helpful than others but generally it is a more than decent venue.

a great place purpose built in pretend old engine sheds. i’ve always thought its been under utilised, problem seems to be that its fairly isolated from the city centre

We all like a bar where you can enjoy it inside and outside. Well come down and sit at the delightful bar down Cardiff Bay ‘The Wharf’. This bar serves excellent food, has a full bar and a relaxing atmosphere inside and outside. When it’s a sunny day don’t sit indoors, sit outside with a cold beer, cider or wine(or all three) and relax with friends whilst looking at the water views. I have been to the Wharf pub on more than one occasion as it was once my local. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and they always asked how I was when they saw me. It now makes me sad that it is no longer my local and I want to go back there for another cold glass of cider and some games of Pool. Yes that’s right, they have a pool table there only 50p for a game. But the best part about this pub as I mentioned earlier is the outside. When it’s a sunny day it’s always filled with people enjoying their lunch whilst sipping on their beverages. The Wharf pub is delightful bar that isn’t too difficult to find, and it is certainly worth the wait if you’re craving one of those drinks. My plan is to go down there, have a drink and watch the rugby internationals. I’ll see you there!

The Wharf is a pub worth visiting if you haven’t ever been there. It interesting looking warehouse of a building that sits on the waters edge, making it ideal for a summers day as you can sit overlooking it eating and drinking to your hearts content. The fact that its called the Wharf make my above observation slightly redundant because W.H.A.R.F. stands for ware house at river front. Never the less a pub can be waterside and not be worth visiting this is not one of those pubs — it has a good feel to it. Last time I went there — an international rugby match was on and we ended up here — which was a good choice as there are big screens and tv’s placed strategically around the bar too. They regularly have live bands here and tHere is also a cracking function room upstairs should you be looking to hire one.

The Wharf is a smart, spacious bar housed within a wonderful converted waterside warehouse, and set a little away from the main hustle and bustle of Mermaid Quay’s other bars and restaurants. Both food and drinks are reasonably priced, with most of the dishes being typical pub grub style food — and the atmosphere is unstuffy and relaxed. They seem to stop serving food quite early, though — 9pm I think, and 8pm sometimes on match days — so for those that like to eat late you can easily get caught out. As the other reviewers have said, the first floor balcony is very popular on summer days, so get there early if you want to enjoy the sun — but watch out for the annoying midges. They also have pub quizzes, comedy nights, and live bands playing on some evenings.

The wharf is an architectural delight, set in a converted warehouse with a mock railway station in a glass atrium. I’ve had good food here, especially the steak and wine combo which is very reasonably priced and comes a large plateful. Great if you have a good appetite. Arrive before 9pm for food as they stop serving. Was told they stopped serving at 8pm tonight because of the live match. Bit of a dissapointment. Otherwise would have got 5 stars from me.

I’m so happy my fellow Unilocalers have given the Wharf rave reviews, and it’s about to get another one! As mentioned the Wharf’s waterside location is truly marvellous, particularly come summer and if you’re lucky enough to get a balcony seat it’s absolutely heavenly. As winter draws in and the days get shorter, the Wharf is still well worth a visit. There is a dark eerily romantic feel to the surrounding water(though you won’t be wanting that balcony seat anymore). I’ve actually been to a few birthday parties at the wharf, and given it’s great location and rather large space, have found it to be ideal. So if you’ve got a party to plan and are willing to fork out the cash, I’d certainly look into hiring the Wharf. Finally it’s worth pointing out that the Wharf is not by all the shops and restaurants in thee main Cardiff Bay area. Whilst its isolation is good in terms of ambiance(Cardiff Bay can get far to packed on weekends and in the summer), it can be tricky to find, so if you’re unfamiliar with the location make sure you have directions written down.

The Warf is one of my favourite Cardiff bay pubs in the summer and when the sun comes out, boy does it upstage all of its competitors. Annoyingly this is Wales and so this place doesn’t get as much use as its worthy of getting but on those rare and glorious lazy sunny afternoons there really is no place I’d rather be. It’s right on the waterfront so I find it’s a good place to dazzle and baffle visitors from the midlands who rarely see water and pubs in tandem. You’ll find decent prices and an unpretentious atmosphere, which is refreshing because with such a good location it would be easy to turn this place into an elitist yuppie hellhole. Instead it’s a haven for friends, families and couples when the bashful sun shows its elusive face.

Just because it’s sunny and I can’t keep my happiness in for the merciful break from rubbish weather. This is a cracking pub for the lose lovely rare sunny days. Overlooking the wharf(The water this time, not the pub) I can’t think of many other places I’d rather be with a nice cider in hand accompanied by my lovely. Pints are about the £3 mark and food is also reasonable. They tend to keep to traditional pub food, i. e what you see at Weatherspoons, you’ll generally get here, including the prices. The best place to sit here is on the balcony on the first floor, it’s an amazing view of the water and it’s surrounding. In the summer they have the BBQ running and cook some great food on there. I can quite happily say this is one of my fave places in Cardiff when the weather is being kind.

The Wharf is a bar/restaurant in Cardiff. It is situatedbetween Cardiff Town Centre and Cardiff Bay along the old Wharf which is now just a stretch of water. It is not in an area where you might stumble across it if you are on a pub crawl or on your way somewhere as it is quite out the way but this adds to it’s appeal. The Wharf is an old factory style building that has been converted into a pub but it still has some of it’s old features which makes it very unique and also very large. It is quite dark inside but cosy because there are lamps on the walls and it has a lovely atmosphere. The best thing about The Wharf is that it has a large outside space with lots of tables placed on the waters edge. It’s really lovely on a sunny day to sit outside with a drink. There is an old boat in the water which is a nice effect as it makes it clear what used to happen there when it was a wharf. If you look closely though, the water is pretty dirty and there can be rubbish floating in it(not the fault of the bar though) which isn’t great. The food at The Wharf is very nice. It is typical pub food, fish and chips, burgers, sundays roasts etc. Although the food is pretty standard in terms of the menu, it is very nice, well presented and the portions are large. The prices are reasonable too. One thing that is slightly disappointing is that right across the old wharf is a dual carrage way and you can hear the constant roar of traffic. It’s annoying because it seems so peaceful apart from that. Overall, a lovley place to go for a drink and lunch in the sun.

The Wharf is just a little bit away from both Cardiff centre and Cardiff Bay, but on the sunniest days or sports days it’s popular enough to get very crowded, either by locals or by people who want a pint at the waterside. At any other time though it’s very spacious, and service is quick. The menu is straightforward pub fare, reasonably but not too cheaply priced. It’s a Brains pub, but unfortunately it only has Brains on tap, and doesn’t stock any of their bottled beers, which is a shame as some of their bottled beers are much better. My favourite area is the Atrium, which is a strange little outdoor/indoor area– an old railway platform that has been set inside a glasshouse, which is as odd as it sounds and yet it’s strangely endearing.

A great venue to hear live music, enjoy good food or just for a quiet drink by the waterside. Spacious bars with all the big screen TVs you could want and a great function room upstairs for parties. At a recent birthday party the buffet food provided was fantastic and the service first rate. Plenty of car parking makes this an ideal choice for a night out.

Man, you don’t want to be in this pub on a rugby match day if you’re any other nationality than Welsh — the patrons are ferociously supportive of the home team! Only kidding! It’s all a bit of a laugh really and not aggressive at all. I’ve been a couple of times on quiz night and had a real laugh. None more so than a couple of Christmases ago when the quizmaster got a bit carried away and threw third prize at the winning team and some guy cought a box of Terry’s Chocolate Orange segments smack in the head! Oopsy! The pool table is off the main lounge and is OK. The felt is in good nick and the cues are alright. If there’s a group of you playing, it’s quite nice to have your own little area. I actually went here ith work for Christmas Party a couple of years back and the food was surprisingly good(if traditional xmas dinner is your thing). Sometimes they have boat races and events on the water next to the pub, which can be a laugh. Lots of midgies in the summer though, which can make the otherwise lovely seating area a bit of a nightmare!

Entertaining, comical, lively and popular the wharf hosts live entertainment and amusing quiz nights all week! Tuesday night is quiz night so grab your mates have a few beers and chill out and relax after a hard start to the week, Thursdays as everyone should know it’s comedy night, so you can sit back and enjoy the night as every single corner of the wharf is filled with laughter! Live Music usually dominates the weekends, the bands and solo artist usually vary giving each weekend a different atmosphere. The wharf is a truly beautiful venue situated on the side of the harbour with soothing views over the silent water.
