Sin City is the main alternative club in Swansea, upstairs is usually Rock/Metal and downstairs is normally indie. They have a few specific nights that I can’t quite remember, I think thursday is a cheap night and saturday is the most popular. Usually drinks are pretty cheap, the music is okay though once you’ve been there once you’ve probably heard the entirety of the DJ’s music collection. The place itself is pretty bad, the floor is always sticky(nightclub tradition I know.) it’s very very dark, which I suppose suits the«theme» but can get a bit annoying. Despite all the flaws I’ve kept going over the course of two years in Swansea, it definitely has something that the other clubs don’t, check it out if you’re into the music.

The best alternative club in Swansea, Face/Off is still the best alt/rock night in town. Can get very busy, but that just makes for a more interesting night. Word of warning: if you go there and it looks empty, stick around as it is open til 4 and doesn’t usually fill up until gone 1, as the«feeder» pubs are late closing. Setlist can be repetitive, but that is because the DJs are request friendly and what the people want, the people get. The fact that the indie room alone has 4 DJs means you get an eclectic mix and, although the end of the night is often the same mix of songs, the breakthrough acts get played in the first few hours to judge public reaction before the crowds hit and demand the floor fillers such as The Killers, Kings of Leon, Pendulum, Prodigy, and Herp Alpert.

This club has used the same set list in each room since it opened. The stairs are slippery and dangerous, as is the metal room bar area(I once saw bar staff throwing down salt in the spills?). The indie room sound system is poorly set up(all bass and high notes. No treble). The ceiling used to drip but my last visit it didnt… and after 1am all you can smell upstairs is damp… Just as well the drinks are so cheap! You have to be comatosed to put up with it… Now the good points: — The bouncers are all great, not stuck up powertrippers like other places. — Drinks are cheap. Summary: If your absolutely bladdered you may enjoy. Tipsy or sober it is a dive. (Ive been going there on and off once every few months since it opened. Ive stopped going there since two months ago. They may have turned it around in those two months but after 2years or so of it being a real dive i doubt it…)
