This is a really big B&Q warehouse, which I often call in to because of the easy access from the M62, and it’s proximity to Xscape and the shopping outlet. Internally it’s pretty much what you’d expect: they’ve got a massive lighting department just in the front door, kitchens and bathrooms beyond, loads of tiles and flooring and then the less interesting things towards the end. I had a return to make today and it was processed really efficiently even though I didn’t have the receipt, and I’ve always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. A good place to visit for all DIY needs.

The best thing about Castleford B&Q is that it’s open until 9pm on a Friday night. We don’t live near any other B&Qs or other hardware stores, so for us it’s perfect to get our hardware needs on the way into a Friday night movie screening. Not only is it a double-use journey, but on a Friday night there are very few shoppers, but still lots of helpful staff — so much easier to shop than on a weekend afternoon when you can barely move for paint-laden trolleys

My husband’s favourite shop! It’s a superstore, so is big. Has the usual sections, plus a small café with a couple of tables. Right next to Xscape & Junction 32& several eating chains. Bus stop & train station right near by too. Trade part on one end. Usually a bacon buttie van in the car park. Good seclection of Christmas trees(fake) & decorations in the festive period.

A big store with alot of choice. There is a lot more stock than the smaller B & Qs and lots of room to park even at the weekend when it is usually busy. Staff are friendly and helpful and the food in the café is okay and quite well priced. Very clean and well organised easy to find the item you are looking for.

When we moved into our current house, the whole place needed gutting and we were on a tight budget so our kitchen and bathroom came from B&Q. They always have various sales on, so you feel like you’re getting a good deal. I can’t really complain too much about the quality of the stuff we bought as it was reasonably priced and our kitchen certainly looks as good(2 ½ year on) as it did when we fitted it. However, their cheap floor tiles chip easily and I’ve not been impressed with our bath or toilet. Also, the woman who helped us design our kitchen and bathroom was nice enough but I actually would have welcomed her trying to ‘upsell’ a little bit, to include more useful features in our kitchen, e.g. an open shelf, a larder cupboard. In hindsight, these things would have been genuinely helpful but we weren’t told about them

This B & Q is excellent — big but always tidy and things are pretty easy to find! They stock just about everything you can imagine and also have a trade bit for the professionals! There is a little café if you need a cuppa and there are normally quite a few bargains to be had too, when they reduce things they do it properly! The staff are always friendly and on the odd occasion when we’ve taken anything back its always been made easy for us. They also have one of those fab big saws for cutting wood the the exact size you need — but if you’re making a special trip for the big saw phone ahead to make sure it’s working, because it is sometimes out of order — normally when we need it!
