The biggest compliment I can give this place is that I’m normally averse to department store /mall type shopping and prefer independents in the northern quarter but I like it here and come out inspired by the designs rather than fatigued by the commerce.

Despite what my husband may think I’m not a big fan of shopping and spending time in mammoth shopping centres and hot, stuffy department stores where the exit is nowhere to be seen(think the Father Ted lingerie department episode) puts the fear of God into me. However, needs must and sometimes shopping can’t be avoided so if this is the case I want somewhere that will make it as easy as possible. I like this branch of John Lewis as it’s easily accessible by road(just off the M60 and Handforth bypass) with plenty of parking, making it super easy to pull up and head straight in. It’s pretty big, spread over 3 floors, but still doesn’t feel like it swallows you up and everything is very easy to find. It’s also very neat and tidy which is pretty important to me as I hate it when a shop is in total disarray(think the hellhole that is Primark) as it just makes the whole shopping experience more stressful than it should be. I’ve always found the staff to be approachable and friendly and will happily dispense advice on the best toaster or coffee machine for your buck, if you so desire. John Lewis is definitely one of the more premium department stores(not quite Harvey Nics but definitely not Debenhams) so the products and prices obviously mirror this but if you are after gifts or items that are of a higher quality then it’s a brilliant option. Another major plus point for JL is that if you sign up for their loyalty card online they send you vouchers for free coffee and cake every month — this sweetens the shopping experience no end!

A huge department store which is near to Wilmslow and Cheadle, Its really big inside and theres 3 floors, the basement has loads of funky tvs, outdoor and indoor furniture and menswear and a really good looking espresso bar! The ground floor is where you come in, this floor has kitchen wear and bedding and household appliances, The first floor is where you will find ladies wear and make up and a huge café called the place to eat, its a lovely café and has many options including yummy cakes and hot food and salad to choose from, everything looked lovely, we had a coffee and a cake which was both really nice, its a lovely setting and overlooks the car park and HUGE windows, and sometimes you can see the planes coming into land into Manchester Airport. Its a lovely department store and its really massive inside, things are a bit pricey but thats what you can expect from a high level of a store but it has everything you could think of if youre looking for something new for youre home or even if you want a new suitcase for youre holiday, it has everything. The only problem is getting there though, unless you have a car its pretty difficult unless you want to catch a bus though i live in the city centre and i went with my parents in there car.

Having lived most of my life in Cheadle this store is an absolute godsend. There is very little in Cheadle village apart from charity shops and betting shops(and my family business… Milan Menswear…) to really appeal. John Lewis is a large store with most products you could possibly require. The carpark is large but always busy so be prepared to park a little away from the main doors at weekends. There is also a Sainsburys attached to the department store and a good but incredibly expensive café. The store is large and airy with a good navigation system. The make up counter area is fabulous with knowledgeable staff. The checkout staff are incredibly helpful and I have yet to be disappointed by any aspect of their customer service. There is also a spa within the store now which I have yet to visit. I’m probably not a fan because I like complete peach and tranquility from a spa. This store is always busy so I don’t think I will get that here but I’m sure the treatments are fabulous. As I said at the beginning, this department store is a real godsend to this side of Stockport allowing you to purchase top quality products with free parking and no lengthy trip to the Trafford Centre. John Lewis is not the cheapest, and many things especially the technology can be found cheaper online. But where John Lewis stands out head and shoulders above everyone else is their return policy. Taking things back for a full refund instead of store credit is becoming less common these days and John Lewis let you return something you bought in John O’Groats to the Lands End branch if you so desire. It also stocks many luxury esque brands that it’s hard to get in other places if you live in the North like Kiehls, Philosophy and Essie nail polish.

Whenever I talk to people in Manchester about Wilmslow, the instant reaction is always that Wilmslow is literally the poshest place ever. Having spent quite a bit of time in Wilmslow, I can say that it’s a very pleasant town, but maybe its reputation for poshness has been exaggerated a teeny bit. However, it a nice place. And having shops like John Lewis only adds to that whole posh reputation. John Lewis sells very good furniture, clothing, sports and electrical equipment. I’m sure the people of WIlsmlow feel right at home in John’s Lewis.
