Went for lunch on a weekday and the place was packed. Comprehensive menu including the usual fayre including burgers, steaks, fish and sandwiches. More expensive than your usual pub grub but a cut above and well worth it. I went for the burger with bacon and cheese(approx £11), homemade, large and well cooked burger in a focaccia bun with some extremely chunky chips on the side. Colleague had the fish and chips and was well received. Afraid I didn’t try the beers but had a wide range or lagers and beers. Nice atmosphere in impressive 17th Century building, lots of seating and good outside patio area. I will be back to sample other things on the menu!

The John Milington kicks off what Cheadle Hulme has to offer on station road, conveniently positioned near the train station. This is a perfect spot for drinking before and after nice meal at Gusto. Yes I know this isn’t a review for another restaurant but it is a valid point worth making, because I would never have come across this gem of a gastro pub if I hadn’t decided to have a meal at Gusto. So, back to John Milington. Having chatted to the bar staff I discovered that the pub is under new management and business has been booming. I can understand why. First requirement for any Gastro pub is the cosy, homely factor which compliments the home cooked style food. This place has it in abundance. The lay out is spacious yet intimate which creates a lively atmosphere. I was there on a weekday and it was very busy. There is a nice selection of ales to try including a very zingy beverage which others may have tried but we had not called Crabbies ginger beer, which went down a spicy treat. The food menu was decent and included a rather appealing Lamb hotpot. Something to sample at a later date perhaps. Conclusion? I have a reason to venture into another one of Cheshire’s leafy green suburb of Cheadle Hulme. Go venture yourself!

Good selection of real ales nice atmosphere but food disappointing. The spare rib starter had the so little meat on it was not worth the effort of trying to eat them, and the crispy duck was more like greasy duck. Shame but wont be returning.

The Millington is a reasonable pub. It won’t blow your socks off, but at the same time it won’t disappoint regularly. It’s a little like having a standard Ale, you drink it when you are unsure about what else is around. The food there is nice to good, though this is reflected in the price which is why I wouldn’t say the food is excellent(a few years back it was excellent) Fri & Sat nights it packs out pretty easily, as it does on any sunny weekend afternoon, so if you want to get seatage get there early. The beer and the prices are both middling, like my opening note the beer won’t blow your mind, it’s Hydes so it will put out consistently middling beer which is good when you just want a pint without the hassle of working out everything that’s on tap, the pubs pipes seem to be kept well as I’ve not had a bad pint there beyond picking one that just wasn’t for my palette. The olives behind the Bar don’t really make you ‘want’ Olives, the giant vase filled with them and I assume oil reminds a little like a pond that enticing bar snack.

Very nice. Good bar and lovely food nice décor. The only minus side is not family friendly, however for adults it’s perfect, can get very busy at w/ends.

Nice traditional pub not for from Cheadle Hulme train station. The food is very good, a little on the expensive side though, as are the drinks. There’s a good selection of beers and real ales and a fairly big beer garden, perfect for a warm summers day! This seems to be the pub a lot of people go to after work and on their lunch hour so it can get quite busy. Service is always quite good though

My favourite local pub with a wide variety on the menu. Bar food and a great restaurant. Lots of little alcoves to hide away too for those afternoon assignations!

Nice looking pub, property has lots of old period features. Hydes bought the building in 2003 and refurbished it to a great standard, opened in 2004– I went to the opening party and got free drinks, and I’ve only been there once since. Prices are high, food is delicious but expensive– there is a large outdoor seating area that gets busy when the wether is good. You can get a free bottle of wine if you join their Birthday club, toilets are clean staff aren’t the friendliest, busy at weekends– trying to get served may take a while!
