Been here a couple times now — mussels are pretty good although sometimes are a little on the grittier side. Service can be a little inattentive, was tough to flag someone down well after our last meal. Very open atmosphere and the drinks were reasonable.

Went here for the first time recently. Although you wouldn’t know it from the logo and branding, this is a classy place. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. I ordered a prawn dish as I think I have some sort of prawn fetish. It was one of the finest things I have ever put into my mouth. My mouth is literally watering as I’m writing this. I told my wife I want to go back there as soon as possible, just so that I can have their prawns again. I think I’m a prawnophile. The meals aren’t hungry-horse prices, but this is not hungry-horse food! This is classy stuff! Great value, great food, great staff. Great prawns.

Went for a hen night meal(party of 18) and expected mediocre meal but was very pleasantly surprised! Food was hot, delicious and well priced. 8 of us had the steak and they remembered who’s was who’s and all were cooked perfectly! Service was excellent and the staff were polite and attentive. Would recommend.

This was an OK restaurant — nothing particularly special about it. The food was good and the service was average. The prices were average for the area. We did go there for Christmas lunch — so I would have to go again on an ordinary day to give a better opinion. There is no parking so a car park will have to be used or the bus. It’s OK for me as I work in Chester. I would go there again.

Had a meal there with some Colleagues late on a week night evening and while the place was busy, it was not packed which is a sign of a good Restaurant. The food and service were both excellent from the starters to the main course. I did not have a desert, but apparently the Toblerone fondue was to die for. The choice on the menu was wide enough to have me struggling to pick. All in all highly recommended.

Possibly the best value place to eat in Chester. Their lunchtime offer of two courses for very little will give you the best quality to price ratio of anywhere in town. I generally have the mussels and their mussels with garlic white wine and cream are so delicious its pretty difficult to ever order anything else. My wife had their risotto on one occasion and for a meal that barely cost £4 it was fantastic. While not teeming with children the restaurant is very child friendly with staff fighting to provide chairs for/fuss over my daughter. Definitely a place to try.

Ate their twice during July and was not disappointed with the mussels I had on both occasions. The ‘frites’ could do with being more like you get in Brittany which are longer and thinner and easier to dunk into the mayo. Desert menu could do with a few additional items. Sometimes just a bit of cake would suffice after a meal rather than the more fanciful offerings available. These are minor points as I would recommend it as a fine place to eat.

Moules A Go Go is a well established restaurant right in the heart of the city — tucked away slightly out of sight on the top level of the famous ‘Chester Rows’. The menu is as you would expect typically French, with a range of seafood dishes focusing of course on Moules. That said, there are some other dishes on the menu which are totally non-seafood related — those these tend to be less exciting than the headline dishes. The décor is excellent and the atmosphere is always lively. Service levels are good if not exceptional. The food does tend to vary in quality which is a bit of a shame. The Moules are always excellent, but the steaks can be a bit hit and miss — and the Chicken dishes I find tend to lack flavour. Overall, Moules A Go Go is a solid Chester restaurant and well worth a trip if you’re a sea-food lover — just don’t expect to be blown away if you’re not into Moules!
