I liked the atmosphere here. It was buzzy and loud and everyone was having a good time. The bar where you wait to get your drinks was nice and although we did have to wait a bit for our table it wasn’t too long.
The food was really good and for that reason I would come back, however when we got our bill a lot of extra items had been added on (coming to £70). We were a group of six and a number of the group had left by the time we got the bill so it would have been easy to miss. When we questioned this of course they apologised and took the items off but it still left a slightly sour taste behind after a lovely night.

Very mediocre. Our food was average, really no better than that. I had roasted chicken with gnocchi and mushrooms, in some sort of lemon sauce. While each of these four ingredients might have tasted good on their own, they clashed as a dish. Think of a country home that is painted barn red, is decorated with Chinese antiques, and has ultramodern funiture. That’s what my dinner was like.
The service was spotty too. No fewer than four different waiters came to our table, but sometimes there seemed to be several of them on top of us, and at other times– like when we had finished our dinner– we had to wait an eternity. Apparently, the waiter scheme was built on the same disjointed and chaotic philosophy as the food.

Very nice restaurant whose interior décor is far nicer than the building exterior. The food is always excellent and the staff attentive without being in your face. The food is prepared using fresh ingredients and is cooked to order. We are regular visitors for both their evening and lunch menus and can heartily recommend either. Book in advance for the weekend evening as always busy.

We took our staff here on our xmas do last year and it was that enjoyable we booked again for this year! good staff, very helpfull and even thou there were a number of us, everything was done in style and to everybodys taste, which isn’t a bad thing if your feeding 28 at one sitting!

Went recently with some clients who were visiting from France so was bit nervous about taking them to a chain restaurant, but have to say things went really well. The place itself was busy considering it was a wet & windy Tuesday night & it had a really nice/​lively atmosphere, service was quick & attentive & the food itself was also very good. Definitely a place I will visit again recommended !

Piccolino is fairly new to the Chester restaurant scene, and one of a growing number of ‘high end chain restaurants’ in the area. The décor is modern, simple and functional with a high standard of finish.
The food is of an excellent standard, with the usual array of Italian dishes including pizzas, pastas and ‘carne’ meat dishes. The wine list is modern and fresh and I’ve yet to find a wine here that wasn’t excellent. Service levels are good — although the staff could perhaps be a touch warmer — though this doesn’t adversely impact the dining experience.
Prices are fairly high — certainly higher than the nearby Italian restaurants in the city centre. However in exchange for this you get a consistently good standard of food.
Overall, Piccolino makes an excellent addition to the Chester scene — and is well worth checking out for high quality (if unoriginal) Italian fare.
