George Inn

The food here is included in our tour. Originally, we thought it might be just okay, enough for a quick lunch in Lacock; but it turned out to be a terrific fish n chips. The staff were so friendly and as soon as we arrived at the inn, our main course we’re soon delivered. Great place to visit if you happen to pass by!

This is a great little CAMRA listed pub! Great little selection of beers that were fresh and the right temperature. The food was also really good as was the service. I wish I could have stayed longer.

This is a really old pub in Lacock. The ambiance is great, its a small cozy place with a fireplace. The food is British modern cuisine. I ordered the fish of the day and chips and it was excellent. The fish tasted really fresh. The location is great right outside of a lot of little antique shops. You can park on their parking lot (which was surprisingly large) and leave the car there while shopping through the really cute and old town.

Incredibly slow service — food was ok

This is one of the centuries old pubs in this village.
We stopped here during a leg of our tour (Premium), and enjoyed a delicious meal in a picturesque and tiny pub room. Great ambiance, especially the room to the left of the entrance featuring the dog wheel and fireplace.
Mom and I ordered the bangers and mash which came with steamed green beans and a delicious mound of freshly-​mashed potatoes. The gravy and flavorful pork sausages were amazing. Dad had the fish and chips and got a solid piece of delicious white fish fried crispy with a healthy side of chips (fries) and a ladle-​full of peas.
I only got one cup of tea, but I’m sure I could have gone to the bar to ask for a refill on the hot water. We had too short a time to enjoy our meal, but it was made that more special by the enthusiastic, historical overview of the village by Anthony, whom I believe was the owner.
Lovely village, great pub.
PS The bathrooms were difficult to access, outside the back door and across a courtyard, and not in the best working condition, lost one star for that.

nice place, food ok, overpriced, needs more traditional meals on menu at affordable prices, more for the local toffs rather than tourists

We ate here only because our bus stopped here as part of a tourist contracted tour. That says it all.

Quaint restaurant in the very picturesque town of Lacock.
BEVERAGES:
Local draft beer — Horrible. Warm & flat. We sent it back because we figured it was a bad pour. Not the case. The second one tasted the same. And the bartender wasn’t pleased of our displeasure either.
FOODS:
Fish & chips — The fish was overcooked and the batter had no flavor. We tried to doctor it up with the limited number of difficult-​to-​open packets of English mayo (yuck,) mustard & ketchup to no avail. The frozen Van De Kamps variety tastes worlds better.
SERVICE:
The servers were friendly and quick, however the bartender was not friendly at all.
OVERALL:
Terrible beer & food. We were part of a tour group, so this restaurant was pre-​selected for us. If you’re going to tour Bath after this stop in Lacock, wait to grab a bite to eat there.

My husband and I took a tour of Bath, Lacock and Stonehenge and had lunch here.
The service was very quick and the food was delicious.
The atmosphere was very laid back and I could see on a cold night having this be the pub where everyone hangs out.
They have a open fireplace which is where the main part o the restaurant is located.

A great pub in the historically-​preserved village of Lacock. Lots of parking in back along with some outdoor tables, and a few rooms in the main building. If the weather’s chilly, try to sit on the side next to the massive inglenook fireplace (which has a long-​disused and slightly unsettling dog wheel (
) still mounted at the end).
There are several ales on tap and typical pub fare, although they seem to be known for their pies. Very tasty both of the times I’ve been there. A cozy pub in a village worth seeing.
