A large rambling building with something of a feel of a bygone age about it! In private ownership for some years. The central bar serves a tap room area with a television, a narrow public bar and a slightly larger lounge area. There is also a pool area and a much larger formal dining area on a lower level. What was once a residents lounge to the front now operates as a separate bistro area. The food in the bar is traditional and very good value. There is normally a choice of 3 real ales in good condition and a variety of daily papers to peruse. The pub appears to try to be all things to all people — and succeeds! Well worth a visit — unique.
