I have to dispute the claims of reviewers who claim the prices are competitive. Nope. They are a rip-off for a Tesco, express or otherwise. However I would back up their claims of a decent choice. I am always able to satisfy my cheese craving here and I have some specific tastes! The post office hidden in the back is a nice touch of locality to the otherwise conglomerate atmosphere. Check out staff are extremely friendly, which is a massive plus if you think you are being ripped off and they take your money with a beaming smile!

You know the feeling when you go in the shop to buy a few bits and bobs and the security guard and his eagle gaze follows you round the store, surprising you round every corner and making you feel guilty as sin even if you’ve done nothing wrong. Well this security guard can be a bit like that. Perhaps it’s just me being cynical, who knows, he could in fact fancy me which is why he stares at me but I think it’s much more likely that he suspects I’m a thief, which I am not. Anyway, it kind of puts me off going in there to the point where I usually cross over and shop at Somerfields. But other than that, there’s nothing wrong with this. It’s your bog standard Tesco Express. There’s a cash point outside and a Big Issue seller to make you feel guilty.

I often find when i walk into these mini one stop shops that i have had to make compromises on what i went in to get. This Tesco Metro however has pretty much everything i need, all the basics. The only area they lack in slightly is fresh fruit and vegetables, that being said they have everything else and it is just as competitively priced as the larger supermarkets. I love the fact that there is a post office at the back, it makes you feel that Tesco is not completely destroying the local community with its supermarkets. It is even more useful because there are so many banks around it making errands that much easier!

I used to go here all the time when I lived in Redland, as it was the nearest place that wasn’t Waitrose and hence hideously expensive. This place is cheap, as you might expect, but I’m sure they’ve jacked the prices a wee bit to fleece the richer Cliftonites on its doorstep. To be fair to the small store, they do stock a wide range of food, including a fairly decent fruit and veg section(which is usually the first thing to go when they open a Metro or Express job). Magazines, newspapers and alcohol(essentials that shouldn’t be taxed in my book) are all well stocked too. What’s more, there’s even a tiny post office hidden at the back of this place — if you can’t find it, it’s closed, by the way, as it is tucked away behind a fake wall when not doing business.
