Even the sound of the word «tablet» makes my teeth scream with agony. Okay, so the sweets made by Lees of Scotland are not the healthiest but everyone deserves a treat every once in a while. And I’m a big believer in treating yourself.
Based in Coatbridge, the most famous of the Lees Confectionery is the «Macaroon bar» which in 1931 which was accidentaly created by the founder of the company, John J Lees. Frustrated at trying to perfect a smooth chocolate fondant bar, he covered his experiment in roasted coconut and the macaroon bar was born. The recipe is still a closely guarded secret.
You can find Lees products in most supermarkets and newsagents across Scotland.

Lees Of Scotland make the most delicious confectionery in the world. Their tablet, mint cream and coconut ice are all delicious but their piece de resistance is their macaroon.
It kind of explains why Glasgow has the worst dental health record in Europe but who cares. Falsers look a lot more realistic these days anyway.
