A very special restaurant although you’d be forgiven for thinking otherwise given it’s outward appearance. But this is Cobham home to the rich and famous, including most if Chelsea’s squad of millionaire footballers. Many of whom delight in Massala’s healthy take on modern fine Indian cooking. And although some of the prices are over what you’d pay in a typical curry house nearly thirty quid for a whole lobster and £200 to wash it down with a bottle of their best Krug, it still offers value for a restaurant of this quality. Well worth a visit, especially if you not mind sitting adjacent to WAGs and stockbrokers.

Good service but you pay for it. The menu is not huge but I enjoyed what I ate. Restaurant lacks character, but it is new. I hope it lasts better than the previous occupants of the building.

I have only been there once and I thought the food excellent and the staff helpful but not obtrusive. It’s not cheap but then quality is worth paying for.

Went last night as it is the new Indian restaurant 50 yards from my house. Sorry, but I thought the meal dreadful. I ordered fish curry which was tasteless and bland, with a glutenous, nasty sauce. The people I went with had a lamb concontion. The meat was as tough as boots, and the sauce was harsh, bitter and with no fresh ingredients that I could see… not even a token sprig of coriander. The rice was OK, the ochra I am told also. The Tarka Dhal runny and tasteless. The bill came. Ludicrous. Quite mad. 90 pounds for three with popadam starter and a main course. The service was patchy, the room gloomy with the walls covered in hearts which looked like they had been cut out by 7 year olds… in preparation for Valentines day, and the décor, white washed brick, was the same as when the restaurant used to be the Homestead 35 years ago. We relayed our thoughts to the owner… did he care? Not a jot. I will not be returning there.

Nwe restaurant, posibly the 4th since Homestead closed. |Foot authentic Indian — unlike more typical Bangladeshi. Very good food — but menu somewhat limited. Not all staff completely comfortable in their new role — however hopefully time will improve haphazard service. A little pricy — but quality will justify cost when service is up to it.
