White Lion

This has been my favourite place to go in Coventry for decades and has seen us through countless birthday, anniversary and other celebrations. The interior is exactly what you want from a country pub, warm, welcoming and charming as are the staff. We have witnessed a number of changes in owners, staff, menus etc, but after all this time, when I get to choose where we go to eat, it is always my first choice. Well Done Guys!

Very cosy and nice place and very professional business as well: this people know what theyre doing and they are doing great. The menu sounds awesome (not just usual pub food, although they offer some snacks as well: I had bread with olive oil and vinegar: might not sound exciting, but is a nice portion and consists of three kinds bread: just right after a couple of ales), various ales, maybe little bit more expensive than a usual pub, but worth it. Fire place, nicely furnished, clean and well trained service. Thumbs up & thanks!

The White Lion is one of the nicest pubs I’ve been to. I first visited just to have a drink and check it out. I was with my partner and our son who both seemed to like it. My partner and I returned to sample their cuisine. It was very nice and the portion was just the right size. It is the only place I have ever known to serve roasted sweet potato which was cooked perfectly.
The menu is varied with a few meals on each section i.e. fish, grills, salads, etc. They also have daily specials. To be honest, it is a little on the expensive side but with perfectly cooked food and a really warm and friendly welcoming atmosphere, it is not too bad.
It is very clean and has a beautiful open fire.
The only thing I think may be a problem is that the toilets are upstairs. And there is the fact that I wouldn’t know how to offer directions to it because I got lost trying to find it and again trying to get home!
We’ve been a few more times since I wrote this and it’s been awesome every time. The kid’s menu has 13 different items. We went a couple of days after Christmas, they were having to close the kitchen because they’d sold out of so much but all the staff were still really friendly, the service was brilliant despite them being so busy. I think other places ought to check it out as a good example.

I love the White Lion. Its a classy yet cheap pub which serves more than your average pub grub! The menu is good for all types of people, as they serve a wide variety of foods, and the menu changes quite regularly. If you want an enjoyable dining experience, but without a massive price tag or a huge chain name attached then White Lion is the place to go!

I really love visting the white lion for a lovely pub meal, it is so cosy in the winter with a roaring open fire in the middle of the restaurant. Food is really nice and also really reasonable most mains are under £10. Drinks are also reasonable, lovely place for a quiet night out for a meal and few drinks. The garden is also lovely in the summer.

This is my local and we’ve seen this place go through redesigns, new management and so on.
If you’re looking for a quiet drink with a nice atmosphere then this is the place to go. Perhaps out of the way for a few people but it means you get a lot of the locals in there (like myself!) which leads to a very pleasant and jovial ambience to the play.
The low wooden beams and moody lighting might be the staple of this chain of pubs but don’t let that put you off, this really is in the spirit of traditional old country pubs.
The food is pretty good and there’s a good selection of lagers bitters and ales on tap for the discerning drinker. The staff and the new management are much improved and very friendly with the punters and won’t shy from a bit of joking and banter.
The car park is always full, especially on Sundays when people go in for the Sunday roast which if anything is a sign of a successful establishment.

This place is great. It is a really oldy worldy place with beams and moody lighting.
Just out of town it is really nice and set back in great scenery.
The food is very good doing a nice selction of goodpub food with something a bit different. The service is always good and the food is always good.
