Had to make an appointment with Specsavers because unfortunately, I broke my glasses. I had backup contacts, but the brand I was using for some reason did not sit well with my eyes at all and my eyes were constantly red and irritated. Booking an appointment: I called yesterday to book an appointment and spoke to a very friendly man over the phone. He was able to give me a next-day appointment. There was same-day availability, but I was too busy. However, I was really impressed with: a) How quick they were to get back to me. b) How soon they were able to get me an appointment. I was pretty worried that I would have to go a few more days either near-blind or with irritated eyes, but Specsavers quickly put my mind at ease. Appointment: I was with newly qualified optometrist, I think her name was Sarah. She was very lovely and pleasant with a really approachable manner to her. I’ve had appointments with newly qualified optometrists before and they would take AGES to get anything done. Even though Sarah told me she was newly qualified, it didn’t feel that way at all. She never seemed clumsy or clueless and acted professionally the whole way through. I told her about how I wasn’t a fan of the contacts I had and she was very helpful with trying to find me ones that were more comfortable, giving me 2 brands for me to trial for free. She also didn’t try to push the more expensive brand on me, which I actually really admired. The only negative is that even though Specsavers had a proper machine for gauging prescription, I had to put on these clunky weird owl-like spectacles with all these different bits and bobs. Maybe because she’s newly qualified, they didn’t trust her with the expensive equipment? Regardless, all my life of going to eyesight appointments I’ve never seen that thing. Lenses kept falling out and I questioned whether or not I was living in the 21st century. — Overall, I’m really happy with my experience with Specsavers. When I arrange my aftercare appointment, I’ll be sure to ask for Sarah directly. She was very pleasant and very thorough. I’m sure she has a bright future in optometry ahead of her!
