Mango Tang

Their food was excellent my partner and I came here last year for my birthday and we both really enjoyed our meal. it was midweek and the restaurant was dead but we couldnt fault the food or the stylishness of the restaurant. The only downfall this year is that they arent on tastecard anymore so it becomes slightly more expensive.

Food is average to good for Derby. Service can let Mango Tang’s down. I would recommend a Monday or Tuesday as these are less busy. I had the Salt Fish which was good but not outstanding. My colleague tried the mutton curry which he felt needed more spice. The gem was the Ginger treacle pudding for dessert.
If your in Derby I’d recommend you give it a go.

Visited for my husbands birthday lunch. Paid £11.95 for 2 courses, 3 courses costs £14.95. Had veggie dumplings as a starter, husband had salt fish fritters. Both were lovely. I then had veggie round up as my main, which was served with rice and peas, my husband had the jerk chicken. The mains tasted fresh and were very good. Relaxed atmosphere, although its a massive restaurant and there was just us and one other table. Hope they are busier at weekends as this restaurant deserves to do well. Really enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed this. Not much experience with the style of food but it was all good. Drinks were a little pricey £3.70 for a small peroni and £3.80 for a small magners. But the lunch menu is £11.95 for two courses and the portions are a good size. Jerk chicken with rice and peas definitely recommended

This was our first visit to Mango Tang and we were not disappointed. From the moment we walked through the door, the contemporary décor provided a warm and welcoming ambience; with the waiting staff having an informal and attentive approach; the background Caribbean music adding to the relaxed atmosphere.
The menu offers a great selection of traditional dishes, with a contemporary twist, which will appeal and satisfy both the die hard Caribbean diners and newcomers to Caribbean cuisine. For the record we had the Beef Dumplings, with a Peach Salsa and Jerk Pork for starters and the Curried Mutton with Rice and Peas as our main dish. Superb! For me, it’s the twist provided by chef that makes the dining experience at Mango Tang a unique one.
Mango Tang is a welcome, if not overdue addition to the Derby eating scene, it’s the new kid on the block that’s bringing additional colour and interest to an otherwise bland landscape.

The food was fantastic! Very clean, warm atmosphere. Staff where informal whilst still maintaining a proffesional attitude providing a fantastic service. guess what? They got red stripe on tap! Woke up in the mornin daydreaming about the jerk chicken an rice lol :)
Definately go again, its slightly expensive but, if you want nice things sometimes you’ve got to spend that little bit extra.

I’d heard good things about this place so I thought I’d check it out. The relaxed Caribbean attitude hits you as soon as you walk through the door with reggae blasting out the sound system and a very comfortable looking restaurant. The staff were very welcoming and introduced themselves by name, which I thought was a nice touch! Unfortunately though, this relaxed Caribbean attitude seemed to carry over to the service, the restaurant wasn’t really busy but we were waiting nearly 1 hour for our food. That said, our waiter did check if we were ok and assure us we hadn’t been forgotten about (thankfully I too had adopted the relaxed Caribbean attitude by this stage). The food when it came was well worth the wait. I had mutton curry with fried dumplings and it was delicious! If you are in no particular hurry and you are prepared to wait for your food then this is a decent place! Despite the wait I will probably go again to try out something else on the menu.

Myself & four friends went to Mango Tang for the first time last night (wednesday) & the food was excellent! I had the veggie ‘run down’ which was dellicious & presented beautifully (my boyfriend thought it could have been spicier though!) Our only other criticisms would be that the staff weren’t very attentive & seemed a little miserable & that the décor, although beautifully done, had an Egyptian theme which really confused us as it’s a Caribbean restaurant!

Just returned from a wonderful meal at Mango Tang. Relaxed atmosphere, excellent service and truly superb food. Can’t praise it highly enough.
