Really impressed, came here with my boyfriend, the food was really tasty and cheap. A good range of drinks, with lots of cocktails, pitchers and brothers fruit ciders. There are always vouchers for sizzling pubs available on the internet for free starters and deserts. If you’re after a well-​priced and appetising meal out I would recommend the Oak and Acorn.

As of mid 2012 a new manager has taken over. Initial opinion is that the place is now running more efficiently under her control, there are more events (including for charities,) and I understand Sky sport will soon reappear. Above reviews are still accurate but: Sky sports has been terminated (due to cost) Service still slow at busy times. Some Lagers run out at busy times and there can be too many rugrats running around at weekends (better in summer when they are out in the garden) However this IS a family pub so I guess that should be affected and it is still the cheapest pub I’ve found so my criticisms are minor.

Revamped in 2008, this is a very good pub. The drink is the cheapest in town (no I’m not kidding) and the food is excellent value for money, they have some great offers on as well.
The only downside is that often the place gets very busy and they do not have enough bar staff working so drinks service can be slow. However the food service is very fast. If you want a good value night out this is the place.
