A ‘chill’ basement bar with a dj booth. Art school crowd feel with people of all ages — from 18 to 65.
It seems quite small but you can fit quite a few people inside. It’s dark and moody, candles on the tables, and has a relaxed and happy bar staff.
Super laid back place, right across from DJCAD — the art school at the University of Dundee.
There’s an outdoor patio for the smokers but it’s always fun to stand on the street on a weekend night and watch all the ‘fancy dress’/costumes walk by.
They usually advertise weeknight quizzes and DJs — so keep an out for their sidewalk blackboard signs.

If I ever have to take someone out for a meal or a drink in Dundee, then the Art Bar is where I take them first.
Charming, low-ceilinged basement bar with a great range of drinks and plenty to choose from on the menu.
It’s standing room only on Saturday nights, so get there early on and spend your evening in probably the best bar in Dundee.

Art Bar is just perfect– proper little bar nestling in a basement, no pretence, just good drinks and cheap bits and excellent live music in cosy surroundings.
There is also a wee beer garden out the back, kids are welcome in until 6pm and they have some great beers– try the Macs Gold (New Zealand) — we alwyas go there if we need reminding how good the Macs is.

Definitely my pub to drink in. An arty yet eclectic clientele which is explained by the fact it’s directly across the road from the Art School. Good selection of beers, wine, any drinks at all! They do a great lunchtime menu and have a deal with the pizza place upstairs (the pubs below street level) in which you can get any pizza for a fiver (mon-thursday). Excellent pub quiz and charming area outside for all the smokers. Would definitely recommend!
