We stopped here for lunch during our stay in Perthshire. This is a warm and inviting place to stop for food and/or drink, with a beautifully finished interior. The staff were lovely, and there was a great selection on the menu to choose from. I opted for a «light bite» of nachos with salsa, soured cream & salsa, and chicken. I have to be honest I was a little disappointed that the chicken was not freshly cooked chicken — it was strips of chicken from a packet that you would buy in a supermarket. Also, I am not sure that the salsa was freshly made. I like salsa fresh and chunky, however this was more sauce-like than the homemade salsa I love. We had our 1 year old daughter with us so asked for the kids menu. This was reasonably priced with 4 or 5 options to choose from. We chose a cheese and tomato pizza with salad for the little one. The pizza that arrived was extremely disappointing — clearly a kids frozen pizza with a rock hard base! When eating out I really expect more for my daughter and for myself — it is so easy to make a fresh kids pizza, even if just topping a crusty roll with freshly made tomato sauce and cheese. Also some freshly cooked chicken with homemade salsa would have made the world of difference to my dish. Howies Bistro — could do better!

Dunkeld is a lovely wee town perfectly positioned for a comfort break between home and where ever the A9 is taking us. By comfort break I of course mean a cup of coffee and probably cake. Despite Dunkeld being well served with a good range of cafes I always opt for Howie’s. I like the way they’ve decorated with exposed stone walls, wooden floors and a gorgeous range fire, that I don’t think works but is very beautiful. But what really hits the spot is the first class service and the amazing food and drinks. They are a bistro so expect more than simple butties if you’ve come for lunch and if you’re planning an evening meal you are in for a treat their menu is really good and to top it all off they are licensed. I was a little tempted to ask them to slip a wee shot of something into my coffee but then it was decided that I was doing some driving so I stuck to a normal cappuccino and a fruit scone. I wasn’t disappointed. Good coffee and amazingly generous, tasty and still warm scones that really were big enough to share. Needless to say I was delighted that we didn’t know this and I got one all to my greedy self.

Delicious food, the boss is very gentle, they hace organic cola(tast the same as the cola calipo ice). Allergies are no problem at all. We were sotting next to the window and that was a fantastic choose: we had enough light to see each other, the plates and the rest of the restaurant. Also we could look out of the window and enjoy the view. The waiters were relax, no rushing, just helpful. The chicken was like you wish for: gently and juicy, almost melting on the tongue, like my love would say. My vegetables and hot spot lentils were exactly how it must be cooked! The food was a little old fashion but we even stay for a great dessert, because the main courses were so good!

Cute small little bistro in some small town. Great food and great service. I ordered a chicken sandwich(forgot which one) and it came with chips and coleslaw. The chips were actual tortilla chips not fries!!! The coleslaw here is amazing and goes great with the chips. The chicken sandwich is amazing as well and you have the choice to have it as a sandwich or a panini. I shoulda opted for the panini. The scones are super doughy here so be careful unless you’re used to that sorta thing.

A busy place in the summer where it always gets mobbed, I have been through here in several occasions hand have always come here, they offer a limited menu with items like soup, jacket potatoes and panini’s sandwiches with home baking. The last time l was here with three guests for a light lunch that consisted of potato and leek soup, coffee and a scone. Soup was great and the coffee, the young girl forgot our scones.

Good food, good coffee, dubious music but you can’t have everything. Free WiFi.

Very nice staff, good prices and fantastic food Howie’s Afternoon Tea is so good! A bit of everything: two different sandwiches, mini doughnuts, a scone with whipped cream and jam, rocky road and, of course, a pot of tea
