Old Sugar Loaf

The weekend crush aside (the place is packed with barely 18s and just aboves!) this place is pretty good. It’s kept up with the times, and a recent overhaul makes a decent place much better! I’ve been coming here on and off since the 80s, and I still feel welcome and relaxed. As an aside, this is the last place I ever saw one of my very good friends. Days later he died, and I still visit here in memory of him.
Although this could taint the place for me, it manages to feel fresh and I have a nice time with friends. Recommended in a town that has little in the way of entertainment at night.

this has recentley been refurbished and is better than ever, i was alittle sceptical whe i went in there for some lunch and there was only one poor waiter working as they were short on staff but they weres still doing food and i was very impressd how quick we got our food out and it was really nice. i wouldnt reccomend the sogar loaf at night tho as i have never had a good night out there. they have like a section at the back that has the dj and dance floor but its always crammed with a very young crowd which makes me feel very old at only 23 hehe!

The Sugar Loaf is the pub that all others in the town aspire to be. They’ve successfully held off the Whetherspoons chain by not compromising on service and quality for the sake of prices, and the custom has stuck by them.
The Sugar Loaf, by day, is a quiet old fashioned pub where you can enjoy lunch in the town centre whether it be on your lunch or whilst shopping. There is a lounge area toward the back with couches for your comfort.
By night this becomes as good a night out in Dunstable as you get. There are numerous events such as hot-​tub parties and beach parties. The DJs in the back bar are excellent and get a good atmosphere going. There are also plenty of offers that actually make it ever so slightly cheaper to drink than stay sober on some nights.
A bit of a ack of all trades, and a good one at that.
