Dursley Tandoori

Definitely without any doubt, the best Indian takeaway you’ll find in Dursley. We nearly didn’t go based on the other review on here, but happily thought we’d give it a fair chance, as we’d tried all the others. Very glad we went. — Fantastic friendly service and quite simply the best, tastiest and most authentic Indian food we’ve had in ages. We’ll definitely be returning soon.

A good restaurant, gone bad
The credit crunch and commodity prices soaring have hit many restauranteurs hard, and I’m afraid to say that in this case it shows. I used to be quite impressed with the food here — indeed there was little choose between the Tandoori and the Dilraj — but no more.
The last couple of takeaways I’d have from the Dursley Tandoori have tasted odd; to my palate, it seemed as though they’d started frying things in (stale) cooking oil rather than ghee in order to save money. Additionally, they’ve started putting lumps of tomato (which I can’t abide) into almost every dish to bulk them out as they reduce the amount of meat.
Personally, I wish they’d just put the prices up rather than staying competitive by reducing the quality of the food. Until further notice, my opinion is: avoid.
