Stamford is one of the better Pizza express outlets that we go to. We have tried several including Newark, Peterborough, Melton Mowbray and Stamford. For some reason Stamford does my favourite pizza, the Etna really well. They seem to put more ingredients on the top including the chillis. The others are all good but Stamford perhaps due to the ambience and location just do it better for me. The menu is pretty standard across the company. They mainly do pizza but have a few pasta dishes also. I like the deserts where they do a smaller desert and a coffee for around £5. The desert isnt big but after the pizza I cant generally fit a big one in anyway. The espresso coffee is nice. We tend to go with a voucher on the Pizza Express iphone app, which normally gives you a buy on get another main for a pound or a pizza and a desert and a drink for a set price amongst other deals. At least the recession gives us a few more deals at places to eat! The menu for the kids is okay and is good value around £6 forva 2.5 course meal, consisting if dough balls and a salad foolowed by a pizza and then hot frothy milk hence the point 5. You know what you are getting with Pizza Express as it is a nationwide chain and the standard is generally pretty good. The Stamford restaurant is clean and tidy, the toilets could do with a lick of paint due to water splashes near the drier. There are some interesting facts positioned around the restaurant concerning Stamford which give you some talking points and some new general knowledge. The staff are mainly Eastern European and apart from one recent occasion where we had to order in the way the waiter wanted us to order(anti clockwise around the table as opposed to ladys first etc) they have been very good servers. The iphone app allows you to pay via paypal, which is very useful indeed and I have used this method on my last 6 times.
