Is it any surprise that I like a shop named Bonkers? Not at all. A fan of all things eccentric and whimsical, Bonkers is my little New Town haven with an amazing collection of unique little tidbits. From cardboard cats(for that friend who wants a pet, but can’t have one), to cheeky books, cards and silly bits & bobs, Bonkers has become a go-to shop for Christmas giftables, little trinkets to send home in the post and(who are we kidding) stuff for me. But it’s not all delightfully silly nonsense — they have some beautiful wrapping paper, pens and stationary as well. The service has always been friendly and I have yet to make it out of this place without buying something. Definitely worth poking around in.

There’s not a lot of stores that sell unique and different types of gift in the main shopping area in Edinburgh so I have to give this store some props for what they do. This place sells many different types of gifts that can easily put a smile on someone’s face! They sell loads of different cards for different occasions. They have a small selection of non-tacky Scottish souvenirs such as books, useful knickknacks, and other products made in Scotland. In the centre of the store is a big table selling many types of stuff toys and small gifts that can be given for birthdays, Christmas, or just because… It’s a bit hard to describe what type of products this store sells cause they have many different things. My suggestion is, if you like giving someone thoughtful gifts than try this place. The staff are always friendly and smiling. They are happy to help you find things and aren’t pushy with their products. This place also sell some things that John Lewis sell for a cheaper price!

I absolutely adore this shop. The customer service was outstanding; the shop assistant went out of her way to help me and they have brilliant products on sale and original card designs. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming and I would definitely recommend it.

Relieved! I rolled my eyes when I saw my beloved Bay Tree Company was turning into something called ‘Bonkers’. I might even have muttered about the state of the world today. But Bonkers is open, and is really just like the BTC with a new sign outside — still lovely cards and gifts and paper.(I had been imagining lots of practical jokes and rude mugs …) So — old fogey cheers as things stay the same. Hurray! A note: It seems there’s a Bonkers in St Andrews and this is run by the same people.
