Really good quality hairdressers in here. Had a cut here that was just perfect, and they dyed my hair pink in the exact shade i wanted(which was quite tricky!). Overall really good experience every time I go here. The only reason I don’t go that often is because hairdressers in Edinburgh are just so expensive! I have been trying to find a cheaper one that cuts as good as Cascal, but no success yet…

Most unprofessional place I have ever been. Basically ran by a woman with a follower of young children who look like they have been on drugs. Full experience was terrible had my hair washed young boy almost tore my head off shampooing. Wouldn’t recommend going back there or recommend it to my worst enemy.

I can’t say I had the best experience here… my hair needed a little TLC so I bought a Groupon voucher for a cut and colour. I was in hospital for a number of days leading up to the day of my appointment so I called up the salon and told them that I would be 30 minutes late as I hadn’t been discharged in time, to which the girl that answered the phone said ‘that’s fine’. So a very tired me rocked up to the salon only to be told that I had missed my appointment and that I couldn’t rebook as I’d not cancelled in time… so I explained the story and rightfully they apologised and asked if I could come back the next day. So 3 o’clock the next dayI show up and don’t actually get seen for 35minutes! So I sit there like a lemon in the chair whilst the guy first finishes up with someone else then goes and has a conversation with a number of the staff. I rarely relish a trip to the salon because of the many I’ve experienced they tend to be quite, how shall I put it, snobby. This place was no different although the guy really was plugging his services for the next time I had to have my hair done which he recommended was something like 4 weeks away and I «really shouldn’t leave it any longer». Bog off. I’ll get it done when I’m ready to/have time to thank you very much. My hair cut really wasn’t that great either. He did what he wanted with the cut(followed my instructions vaguely) but at least I got to pick out the colour of my own hair :) Yay!

I’ve been in Edinburgh for a month and was starting to look like a crazy hairy beast. I needed a haircut(e) ASAP. I was a little bit scared to just go anywhere other than my hairdresser back in NYC. I walked around the block from where I was staying and found Cascal. I asked if they had any appointments today and the lady at the desk said 3:45. Perfect. Lunch, glass of wine later I walked in hoping for the best. What I got was a great haircut! Actually, just as good as my hairdresser back home. My hairdresser was Amy and she was super nice. I def recommend this place. It’s cute, not too overwhelming and my haircut was priced perfectly. Thanks Amy!

I visited the Cascal salon in Greens Edinburgh on the 12th of June(a while back now I realise) for the first time. When I called up initially I requested a tint — I was told that I would have a girl who was recently qualified doing my hair not a problem. When I turned up, I was told I could not have a tint as I had highlights in already again not a problem, I just did not realise you couldn’t have a tint over highlights which I apologised for. I was then told because we were tight for time I could maybe have a half head and no cut, and possibly no blow dry. I went along with it as I had not booked for the right appointment. Then, the girl took a guy for a cut at my appointment time no wonder they couldn’t fit in a cut for me! After being taken 20 mins late the girl started on my half head of highlights SILENTLY. She pulled my hair to within an inch of it’s life, and when I strained my head to relieve the pressure she said ‘oham I hurting you?’(which was the most she said the whole time I was there) to which I replied ‘Yes, it’s just a bit tight?’. She eventually gave my scalp a rest after 45mins of pulling and SILENCE! It was the most uncomfortable and awkward time I’ve ever had at a hairdresser! Once my colour had developed, it was taken off and I was informed that yes, there would be time for a cut but only a trim. Well! I wish I hadn’t bothered! She cut my hair, and in fairness I was happy with it when I left. However, when I went to a different hairdresser last week who coloured my hair(and actually spoke,) she told me that my hair was ¼″ longer on one side than the other. She took a photo for me and it’s UNBELIEVABLE. I will definately not be going back to Cascal. Not only did I have a silent experience, but also I had my scalp ripped off and a squint haircut. Poor, poor service if the newly qualified girl can’t cut hair or talk then don’t let her loose on customers.

It is a great salon. Unfortunately, I have had a bad experience by attending them recently. The receptionist was not sure about the exact price for the service I asked for. Moreover, the haidresser asked me to pay £42 pounds instead of £20. As you see it is a big difference. The hairdresser seemed to be friendly and efficient, however I do not think I will go there again as I felt a bit embarrassed when they started talking and changing the prices in front of me and other customers. I did not get a receipt for the service either

Lovely salon with great atmosphere. Cass and co do a great job of colour, cut and friendly chat even running to the bar next door to order cocktails :)

I went to Cascal in Leith with a Groupon promotion. Awful experience. Had to wait over an hour before I was taken and the highlights were terrible. Had to back to my usual hairdresser to get them fixed. Would never recommend or go back.

I bought a voucher for a cut, colour and blowdry at Cascal. I could not get an appointment at any of their three branches until January 2011! However I decided to keep calling every day to see if I could get a cancellation, and I did! The treatment I received was excellent.

i booked into cascal after being disappointed at other salons which no matter what i asked would give me whatever the haircut of the day was. A few hours in Cascal and I got exactly the cut and colour I wanted — a really good job. Its a very friendly salon with flexible hours. I’ve already booked and would definitely recommend it.

I took my nine-year-old son to Cascal as he had chopped chunks out of his hair and needed an emergency fix! He’s not keen on hairdressers so we drove past first to have a look. His sister and I go to Charlie Miller but he thinks it’s just for women so wouldn’t go. He also didn’t like the smaller, barber shops around Leith(fussy or what?). The two young women were so nice and friendly and very professional! He was taken right away, which was good as I didn’t think I’d even get him in the door! My son got a really good haircut. The hairdresser who cut his hair was so patient with him. We also got vouchers for a half-price haircut next time and my son agreed to go back again which is a first! Smart salon. Friendly staff. Very welcoming. I recommend this salon.(12÷8÷08) ~ UPDATE ~ 21÷3÷10 I decided last year to put my money where my mouth is and got Cass to cut my hair. As a lifelong Charlie Miller client, this was a big step! Cass gave me one of the best haircuts I have ever had. Have been back since and am now hooked.
