Direct Cabs

After finishing a long shift at work I first called for a taxi at 2.39am and I do appreciate that being a Saturday it would be a bit of a wait as they were busy. I was told by the operator that it would be a 20 – 30 minute wait and as it’s a company a friend recommended to me I decided to accept as they apparently turn up earlier. So I waited and waited. After 40 minute I phoned the dispatch office to enquire where it was. Apparently someone had ‘taken’ my taxi. Now I never received a phone call to tell me my taxi was waiting (as is the norm with most companies.) The operator, at this point, was extremely helpful (although I must add there was no apology) but offered to book me another one on a priority call. Because I was tired and didn’t want to have to wait a further 30 mins for another company I accepted. By this point the local pub I was sheltering in after my bar shutting was getting ready to close his doors having cleaned up. He then phoned for his taxi (he uses this company regularly) and was told it would be 15 minutes. By 3.37am we were still waiting and by this point I handed the local business owner my phone to call and enquire where the taxi’s were. We were told they would be there soon, in about 5 minutes or so. So I waited outside, in the cold, windy weather to make sure this one wasn’t’taken’. So I waited and waited again! The time was now 3.56am a whole 1hr and 17 minutes after my initial call. I gave up and called another company who arrived within 3 minutes. Once again I know it was a Saturday but it is unacceptable that we were clearly lied to by the operators and this company is incapable of any form of customer service. NO APOLOGY WAS GIVEN. If you are in any hurry, you would probably be better walking.

20% discount is an attraction but some drivers have to be reminded.
My wife & I use them regularly both for business & recreation. We are happy to give them repeat business.
As they’re a minicab firm, quality, knowledge & exerience of driver varies but all have up to date satnav, get you where you need to be & do so more cheaply than their fast black counterparts or minicab rivals (as long as you get your discount).
Some drivers do their best to actively save you money (surprising since your saving hits them in the pocket).
Trust me though, we have ample oportunity to compare fares over regular destinations. Bottom line is that Direct Cabs are cheaper than others & perfectly reliable.

20% off all prices. they can take a long time to come though. and most taxi drivers usually take the long way round to your destination which i suppose must mean the 20% is just the same as having gotten another taxi which took the shorter route.

The main draw of this company is that they knock 20% off all the metered prices. They’re pretty reliable and are usually out within 15 minutes. Don’t try to get a taxi within in hour on friday or saturday nights though– you’ll be waiting ages.
