As far as satisfying your needs of a local shop at which to pick up some beers, a box of cereal or a tomato goes, this Londis is perfectly adequate. What you won’t find here is massive choice, cheap prices or good service. Scratch that, forget good service, let’s just say service in general. As far as I’ve seen on the many occasions on which I have frequented this shop, there’s only two guys who ever work there, and as dull as I know sitting in a little convenience shop for over twelve hours a day must be, that’s still no real excuse for spending every minute you’re there sitting at the till watching stuff on your laptop. Honestly there have been occasions where the guy serving hasn’t even noticed me in the shop, let alone the fact that I’d already picked up everything I needed and had been stood awkwardly at the till… In all honesty, there really aren’t many reasons you’d need to visit this shop though. Unless you live as close to it as I do(literally forty metres away) or you’re passing and are in desperate need of a pack of crisps and a can of coke, you’d be best hanging on the two minutes it would take you to walk a little further down the road to the Somerfield which is open all the same hours. Ultimately little shops like this will suffer in the presence of the big boys unless they give the customer a reason to go back, which can often be as little as a smile, a hello or even a hint that you vaguely recognise the customer you have regularly served for the last six months. You won’t get any of the aforementioned here, so don’t bother unless you’re desperate. But hey, maybe I’m just bitter because they stopped stocking Cherry Coke…

This branch of corner shop Londis is well stocked and excellent if you need a snack or a magazine. I came in the other day as I was in urgent need of a juice box. I bought some Capri Sun and on the way out I noticed the sweet section where they had a couple of boxes of Bubaloo, you know, they chewing gum sweet with the juice filling? I haven’t seen them in years and I thought they’d stopped making them, I used to love them when I was younger. Needless to say, I left with more than a few Bubaloo’s in tow and left ecstatic with my childhood find. My only negative comment about Londis is that at the side of the shop on Dalry Road, there’s an overflow of rubbish including old crisp boxes, packaging and plastic crates. I hate seeing littered streets and I have a feeling that this rubbish is coming from Londis… not the best image for a business…
