I really enjoyed shopping at Ness. I came in to look for classic tartan skirts and scarves and the staff was friendly and helpful in giving suggestions. Truly a gem off Royal Miles(not too pricey either).

Coming around the bend in the road, two women see a small dress shop with colors perfect to complement our British Isles skins. «I do not need any more dresses, handbags, or necklaces,» sayeth my native guide. «Neither do I,» I say. So we went in anyway. I bought a beautiful button — down sweater(hooks and loops actually), and could have easily tried on another several things. But with the sunshine and boys waiting outside, I pulled back. The shop girls were very sweet and gave good advice, and educated me on tax retrieval. I like that the clothes were somewhat traditional and decidedly classic, but not all red and green tartans like so many other nearby places. Very feminine and nicely cut for women with figures, and for those built with thin frames.

Coup de foudre pour cette marque de vêtement écossaise, très féminin et délicat malgré le matériel utilisé.

Colourful stuff! I really like the small shop opposite the HUB with it’s colourful display of clothes and accessories like boots(Hunter style), gloves, scarfs, hats, caps, jackets, shirts, trousers, purses, handbags and so much more. The staff is really friendly and helpful. There is another Ness shop in Ocean Terminal that is a bit larger and more space to roam. If you like decent colors then the shop is definitely for you.

If you like Ness’s sister shop on High Street, you should love this branch on Lawnmarket. It’s bigger, brighter and has more shelves packed with stylish and contemporary womenswear. In keeping with the company’s trademark style, there’s lots of pastel blouses, plain tees and bootleg jeans that perfectly compliment their more vibrant tartan and dogstooth waistcoats, skirts and jackets. They also have some cute striped cardigans, patterned A-line skirts and jazzy scarves and hats. The thing that caught my eye however, was their range of designer wellies. Aptly named Georgie, they are half rubber and half tartan and come coated in Teflon to make them easy to clean post-festivals and mud-fighting!
