Extremely bad customer service, do not buy here I bought a phone because my iPhone camera is broken So I got an iPhone 7 just for the sake of the broken camera on my iPhone 6s Other than that my phone was working fine I was not looking to upgrade or spend a lot of money First of all the guy asked me to go get cash so they don’t have to pay a fee (probably to save taxes) Should have left right then and there

As it turns out none of their iPhones have the option to turn of the annoying shutter sound when taking a photo (The whole point of taking a photo is to do it in silent mode, if you are not looking to annoy everyone around you) the option should be given either way As I was extremely frustrated that after 4 years I decided to buy a new phone the one thing I need to function properly, is not working I tried everything to figure it out but as it turns out some phones that are from certain countries eg japan or Korea don’t let you take off the shutter noise So i am assuming they buy their phones in bulk to sell them cheap I have an even older iPhone version and it works perfectly so did this guys’ iPhone 13 who was also at the store So the problem does not lie with iPhone but obviously with them So after wasting two days of not being able to use it an hour arguing at the store, when I had a flight to catch The guy refused to give me my money back (for a phone I had not used and bought two days ago) You don’t even get an actual receipt that tells you the product you bought, so go figure... In the end i was forced to buy an android with scratches on it, which I never wanted in the first place and also pay 30£ on top of it, after all the hassle I already went through What an absolute ridiculous and unprofessional behavior They are absolutely stubborn and refuse to give you your money back, interrupt and are disrespectful, after not even acknowledging it is their fault and making up a million excuses and plus they make you pay on top of it, even though they messed up! What a terrible experience, do not buy there, it’s a rip off! If I could I’d give 0 stars

Due to… circumstances, I’ve been at Netversal twice in the past two weeks to replace the screen on my phone. I’ve seen these guys around for years, but have never been quite sure about them. On the one hand, they’re very central on South Bridge, but on the other… They look kinda skeezy. Like a 90s independent computer store in the outskirts of town. Lots of off-​brand computer/​phone accessories and a very disorganised sales area means that it looks… Hm. It looks a bit disreputable, I guess is the only way I can put it.
However, SimplyFixit didn’t have the parts needed for my repair when I was in town and Netversal were 20 quid cheaper for my screen fix. So I went for it! They were adamant that I wouldn’t need to back up my phone for this repair, which is nice. They were also adamant that they needed me to give them the pin code for my phone. I was a bit dubious about this, as obviously they’ll then have access to all my photos, all my online accounts, etc. The owner pointed out that they’ve been on South Bridge for years and that this should instill me with SOME level of comfort that they will not be abusing my details. With some reservations, I decided to let it go. They do need the pin code to test the phone after the repair, to make sure everything’s working.
Anyway, they fixed my phone (twice) and both times it only took them a couple of hours. The second time, I checked in here on Unilocal before paying and got a 10% discount on my repair! They seemed a bit confused by this turn of events, so it’s possible that this is an old arrangement that they will not be supporting in the future, but it’s worth keeping an eye on!
Service was absolutely fine, not overly gracious and friendly, but not in any way hostile or unclear. All in all, I can recommend giving these guys a go if you have repairs to do.

1. the staff didnt have a clue on how to fix a battery connecter issue with iphone 4
2. very expensive was asking for £48
very rude and arrogant staff and manager never seem to get what is being said to them
in the end i just sent to a guy down south and got it for half the price with perfect service

Edinburgh doesn’t have an apple store. Shocking huh? This places sells ipods and everything apple. When everywhere else was sold of a new model of ipod nano, they still had a few left. Although when I put mine through the washing machine and I went in to enquire about ipod repairs, they were going to charge £20 just to look at it first.

This place is great for phone unlocking. They have decent prices and are trustworthy guys who seem to know what they are doing. I popped in with my old sony ericsson walkman phone and they unlocked it overnight for me for £10.
Having said that, when I took in a Nokia 5230, they said they could unlock it for £55 and it would take 10 working days (!). This is probably because the phone is so new, but then again I had it unlocked in a virgin phone shop for a mere £15.
They have loads of second hand phones for decent prices (Blackberries for £189 but also cheaper brands) and accessories such as phone covers, data cables or phone charms, although they do struggle to supply any accessories for new phone brands such as the 5230.
They also do iPhone and laptop repairs (great for people who regularly crack their iPhone screens) and have internet café facilities.
A big bonus are the opening times, so people who work 9 – 5 can either pop in after work or on the weekends with any phone or laptop troubles. Such as when your cat decides the litter tray is not good enough anymore and decides to pee into the socket your laptop is plugged into, causing a huge electrical explosion. But surviving unscathed for some reason. No I have no idea why either.

There’s been a rapid decline in internet café’s over the past few years, now that every one and ever thing has personal access to the internet. Places like Netversal have managed to stay open by offering a variety of services. In this case Netversal offers printing and scanning services, on top of its shop selling lots and lots of computer «stuff».
I first visited Netversal when I was on my way to a job interview nearby and dropped my CV in a puddle. I had fortunately emailed myself a copy earlier so managed to pop in, use their net and printing services, and get their in the nick of time. So I am perhaps a little bias after they saved my day!
But Netversal is really a useful shop. It has a fairly small floor space considering their stock size, with an upstairs for internet services. Downstairs is home to all the computer bits and bobs. It specialises in specific cables and accessories for computers and general electronic goods. Just be prepared to pay a bit extra than you might online. They don’t seem to always know exactly what their talking about but their particuarly helpful with the internet/​computing services side of their business.

A bit of an Aladdin’s cave for the socially inept, Netversal is stocked with every cable, antenna, flash drive or general piece of bumph you could need for your computer, camera, cellphone or games console. It’s all crammed into a fairly small space, but the guy behind the counter knows his stuff well enough to always point you in the right direction.
Handy as it is, you will pay the price for some stuff. After paying £11.99 for a hard drive cable that costs £2 in Asda, It;s pretty safe to say that they saw me coming.
