I have to admit this is my first time having a Pintos. I wasn’t sure what expect as I really didn’t look into the reviews. You could say I went in blindly, true but the OH said it was ok, so maybe slightly true. Anyways lets get to the food. I choose the tacos — one with pork and two with chicken. Guacamole was extra but who can’t have guacamole? Seriously I love the stuff. I prefer mine a little chunkier rather than too smooth as it just adds more texture to the overall dish. Both chicken and pork tacos were delicious and for value it was pretty decent. The other half had a chicken burrito and seemed happy with it. We both had a non-alcoholic ginger beer for drink. All in it was under £20 for a quick dinner. Service was quick but nothing really outstanding. Just be careful if you go to the toilets as you walk through the door there are stairs to your right.

I second Rachel. — A Pinto is a Pinto is a Pinto, and this is one is just like the rest. So, it’s four stars from me since I’m already a fan and this is standard as far as the Pinto format goes; fast and fresh and friendly. Mmmmm, burrito.

Pinto is Pinto. Beloved of Glaswegians, like fellow export BMB it’s not had quite as successful a transition to the east of the country(or at least that’s what you’d think by comparing the reviews of Glasgow’s branches and the Pinto on Lothian Road). But you know what? It’s absolutely fine. Is it the best Mexican food you’ll have? Not by a long shot, but it’s relatively inexpensive and it’s pretty tasty. The Shandwick Place branch is also very near my office and many’s a lunchtime when a colleague will stroll back in clutching a foil-wrapped burrito. I’ve popped by a few times with Kip S, and we both like it well enough. I will advise you not to add salad to your quesadillas(warm salad is yuck) but apart from that, feel free to go wild with the various combinations at your disposal. Add in a can of juice, and quite often you’ll find you’ve grabbed yourself a meal deal and saved a bit of money. Not so bad! So don’t go in expecting to be wowed, but if you’re in need of quick, filling and tasty sustenance then you could do a lot worse than by choosing Pinto for your lunch.
