To say I was taken aback when I popped into this RS McColl’s the other week would be an understatement. I expected the usual slightly overpriced mix of newspapers, soft drinks, fags, crisps and confectionery. What I got was far, far worse.
I’m not sure if there was a dead body being kept behind the counter, or the guy working there just had the most intensely meaty body odour known to man, but the stench was so overpowering that it still makes me heave a bit to think of it. Despite being July, the heating was up full blast too which didn’t exactly help matters, nor did the pitiful selection of chocolate bars.
To be fair, there may have been more, but the heat and foul aroma ensured I didn’t spend long looking. Maybe it was just an off day or a drain had burst, but I won’t be back.
