Sabor Criollo

The new, modern Sabor Criollo on Cowgate is certainly a contrast to the original Stockbridge location that has a family feel. This new one has been quiet for dining, and when I came at 7pm on Monday with Mason R we were the only ones there at first before two other tables came about 7:30. The staff were friendly and the menu was reasonable with fajitas for £12 or enchilada for £10 or the Dominican Flag for £9, and the prices were even more reasonable since we were armed with a Groupon voucher. We had the beef fajitas which were delicious and had good freshly made sauces although we only were given three tortillas and could have done with another to fill with the generous portion of beef. The Dominican flag dish had perfectly cooked chicken with an amazing sauce, as well as rice and black beans.
The food was really good and well priced, but the ambiance was lacking a bit for dinner. I’d suspect this place does well with hosting its salsa classes on Tuesdays and would be a good place to come for a cocktail or dancing at the weekend. Hopefully this place will become more popular once it becomes more established!
