Naughty Maggie forgot to review the event. Tutto Matto invited some Unilocaler’s along for their pre-launch event and we were happy to explore this newbie. The place was buzzing when I arrived, and although the staff were obviously overwhelmed(as everything was brand new) they were lovely and friendly and kept checking in on us to see if we needed anything. We were given free roam of the menu, and plenty of slice swapping went on so we could try everything, which was really nice. A good event is one where you immediately want to go back to the venue under normal circumstances, and I walked out of Tutto Matto planning my next visit

Yet another great events organized by JoDi; the opening of Tutto Matto was really good and i think we can all agree that we had an amazing experience; there was plenty of food and drinks and everyone who knows me would know this is something that makes me very happy; Our table of 8 started with drinks; they serve wine, beers and cocktails; i tried the cocktails which was good but missing a little bit on the boozy side for my cocktail taste; i also hope that they will soon have cocktails glasses because i like to drinks a cocktail in a fancy glass but nothing i would remove a star over; We then moved on to the appetisers and it all looked very tasty; i had the crab pot and mmmmmann. It was spicy! Hopefully they will add a little jalapeño sign in front of it as a warning just because some people(like me) might not be able to handle the heat! It was really tasty and i would just recommend tutto matto to add a few slices of bread for dippings :) Now for the pizza! It was simply delicious; i think i tried about 5⁄6 different slices and all were on point! My favourite was the peking followed very closely by the philadelphia(represent :)) Finally, dessert; we had all different sundays and a lot of us tried the tiramisu sunday; at first it tasted more like a vanilla chocolate sunday but coming closer to the bottom; the tiramisu taste kicked it; i would recommend to make make more layer of tiramisu to avoid having it all at the bottom; Overall; great staff, great food, great event; Thank you again Jodi for putting it together and thanks tutto matto for welcoming us in your establishment Fyi– i think i win at the fastest person to make it to an event on a last minute notice :)))

Another fun event arranged by Unilocal Edinburgh’s Petite Dynamo Jody B. The food was great, the service was a little confused –but it was the first night they were open! Well worth checking out :)

This review is after attending a preview night with some other Unilocalers before the official opening so I have tried to base the review on the food and the look of the place and accepted that the waiters and waitresses were going to be extra keen to impress. The look of the place is pretty good with a mixture of bar stool height tables and more sit down on chair tables with the biggest tables catering for groups of about 8 people. They have also done a great job of putting the various pizza offerings on boards around the walls so your taste buds can be whetted as you make your way to sit down. They have kept the tables clear by putting the chilli flakes and parmesan cheese on little boxes on the wall, which whilst clever, does mean that some people on the table can’t easily get to them — but hey you’re there for pizza so its going to be a social thing! The food is where I’m a bit undecided at the moment, it definitely isn’t bad, but it isn’t wow either. There are some quite innovative choices but they probably just need a little more work to get them to the top level. My starter or Calamari stuffed with Italian Sausage interested me and when it arrived it looked great nestling in a tomato sauce but the delicate flavours of the calamari get lost with the strong flavours of the sauce and sausage. The pizza main choice was the Peking which includes shredded duck, hoisin plum sauce and sliced cucumber — the top was definitely of the ‘Wow’ variety but I thought the dough base was just a little too thick — if it had been that tiny bit thinner and crispier it would have got me very excited. Finished with the Eton Mess ½ pint Sundae which was another with tons of potential that didn’t quite hit the mark — it’s essentially a mixture of ice-cream with Eton mess at the bottom, but the separation made it into two deserts in one dish with some really strong raspberry flavour at the end. It may be better to have layers of ice-cream and Eton Mess. The drinks choice is good and I can highly recommend the East Coast IPA which is made by Greene King. Very tasty and could have been slurped all night, especially as you get a 2.5 pint pitcher for the price of two pints. Overall, it’s a good addition to the pizza purveyors of Edinburgh but isn’t quite there with the best of them. With a bit of work though, they could be and the prices are pretty good too with pizzas between £8 and £10.

An excellent launch event at Tutto Matto. I arrived to be greeted by the friendly general manager and shown to the Unilocal table. And what better people to spend the evening with than a group of fellow Unilocalers! For starter, I had a wee haggis pot, for main course a Hawaiian pizza(not very original, I know), and for dessert a caramel fudge sundae. Being in a group of eight meant I got to share my pizza around and try lots of different types. Excellent! The food was washed down with a nice IPA. The atmosphere at the event was friendly and fun. Among the food-loving attendees were TWO birthday celebrants, and our Unilocal table was happy to sing along on both occasions. The service was friendly and prompt, and the evening was overall well-delivered. I will return.
