We only live around the corner from Peacocks but we are frequent visitors because the food, range of teas and general ambiance is second to none. This is a charming tea room and so quaint, one could almost expect to see«Miss Marple» sitting in the corner. It’s easy to see why people come from so far afield and as a personal favourite, Rachel’s gluten free chocolate brownie is heaven on a plate! PS If you’re not driving, the«Peacocktail» cocktail is an absolute must.

Comment dire? Parfait.

I wish I could have spent my entire holiday in Ely taking my daily tea at Peacocks Tearoom. The tea and cakes were delicious, but the scones and jam truly won my heart. Such a delightful place with a very family vibe. Worth the wait.

My family and I absolutely love this place! We just moved here and we just can’t get enough. My friends would agree also. This cute little restaurant has such a sweet staff. There is a wonderful tea selection, every time I go I get something different and I can’t complain about any of it. Though the chocolate tea is the best so far. Also, the food is delectable and delicious! I highly recommend!

This is the best tea room I have ever tried, in England and elsewhere. The tea is lovely, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the food is quite good. I enjoyed the sandwiches and scones. We always made a point to go to Peacocks, and take guests as well. I hope we will have a chance to go back. Fantastic!

If you don’t drink tea, you will after dining here. The selection of teas is enormous, and you will find a flavor to fit every mood(the Moriarty blend is wonderful in the late fall/early winter months). The food is fantastic, my favorite being the Croque Royale sandwich. Be sure to check out the daily specials because they’re delicious and just as good(if not better) than the menu items. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating. For the quality and quantity of the food and beverage offered, the prices are low. I can easily feed myself to the limit in under £12. Such a fun place to go, can’t recommend it highly enough!

This is a great find in Ely, it is a must see if ever in the town. The food is excellent and the teas are great. The surprise is both the staff are excellent and the value of a visit is great. Make sure to read the full menu it’s a very funny read.

This seems very tourist oriented and«cram em in» mentality. The owner? manager? was abrupt and quite rude but kept the insincere smile going the whole time. As for the food — fabulous toasties! yes they are great. But charging double for the tea — meh — no thanks. Won’t be back.

Quel ravissement !

We adore this place. It is set in a nice Edwardian house with plenty of nooks and crannies, and rooms used downstairs to seat guests. The medium sized yard out the front is also used for seating, but we always choose to sit inside, even on a nice day, because they have a nice back garden that looks pretty on a sunny day, though one day we will sit out the front, where staff are always in attendance, and not abandoned like you see in some outdoor eating areas. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and service is quick and consistent. We’ve been dozens of times, and even at busy times service is prompt. Their selection of teas is simply unmatched — period. Hundreds of different teas. Everything. And don’t be afraid to ask for a pot of hot water alongside the tea pot. And if you’d like your tea stronger, they’ll whisk your pot away and moments later return with a fresh one with more leaves in the brewer, and topped up fresh(or a completely new pot). Foodwise, their scones and cakes are awesome. They have both normal and gluten free selections(quite a good range in the latter category). Their hot foods are nice, including scrambled egg and smoked salmon(which seems different every time, in that they may have different bread to toast, or they’ll combine the eggs with the salmon in different ways), but always delicious; melted goats cheese on toast with a beautiful salad with grapes and a chutney of your choice(so tasty), and of course their afternoon tea selections. they do a chocolate afternoon tea which has a awesome chocolate scone with cream(lightly sweet, very chocolates — not sugar packed, but subtle and grown up) served warm with a delicious hot chocolate with — yes — more cream. They also do the towering tier of plates«all out» afternoon tea with sandwiches, cakes, scones, salad, tea etc. and this is a true feast. And if your after something hearty and warming, their soup is always great, particularly because it comes with a yummy cheese scone included, for £5.95. The bowl of soup is really big and my favourites so far have been lentil and bacon, minted pea and ham, curried butternut and coconut. just go here for a great afternoon tea — we love it!

We’d just been ’round the antique shop next door, and were wandering down towards the river, when my friend said she could do with a cuppa. And there we were, standing right outside Peacock’s Tea rooms, so in we went. Accommodated in a picturesque period house, we were seated and served promptly, with grace and efficiency. Aspects of the business are amusingly quirky: — the menu includes funny quotes about tea from novels and films etc. — the tea is served in none-matching china(and they promise to replace it, if the tea comes in a matching tea set! lol) — and they promise to give you a free afternoon tea if you find a tea shop that sells a greater variety of teas! They have over 70 varieties of tea from anywhere you can think of! We selected a pot of number 50(Kenyan), and had a couple of rounds of well-filled sarnies, and a slab of carrot cake to share. All home made. All excellent. All consumed unhurried, in a timeless epoch. People came and went. Drinks, light lunches and afternoon teas were enjoyed. And the atmosphere was convivial. What a delightful experience! It’s a wonderful place to tarry a while. So, pop in, if you’re in the area. [It regularly receives great reviews and awards: It’s Country Living’s favourite tea room! And a favourite of the UK tea council too!
