We went to this restaurant on their ABBA tribute night and it was fantastic! Great food and atmosphere and the tribute act was really good! The restaurant has a warm and welcoming feel to it and the prices are very reasonable. Would defiantly recommend

I must preface this review by telling you I am a Tex-Mex snob. I am not proud of it, but it is the truth. Having said that, I won’t be returning to Los Amigos as I was fairly disappointed with the food. My husband and I visited for dinner and tried several dishes. To start, we ordered the tortilla dips and chips and the stuffed jalapeño peppers. The chips were slightly stale and the salsa was more like a sweet tomato sauce. The stuffed jalapeño peppers were good, but they could have been deep fried from a frozen product. For our mains, we had the chicken fajitas and the chicken nachos. The nachos had the same issues as the chips and salsa with the chicken tasting more Spanish than Tex-Mex. The fajitas were cooked okay, but must have had the same Spanish-rice type seasoning as the nachos… which really killed the flavour, in my opinion. I also tried the regular margarita, for which I had high hopes(thinking this could at least be a solid post-work drinks spot.) Sadly, the margarita was made with a mix and had only the one redeeming quality of a well-salted rim. I would have gladly paid another £1 or £2 for a margarita made from scratch– especially at a Tex Mex restaurant! All this said, I do not recommend this restaurant and suggest you go to Wimbledon for either Chiptole or Wahaca for your Tex-Mex cravings.

If you’ve ever been to a decent Tex Mex restaurant, you’ve been to Los Amigos. You won’t find much authentic Mexican cuisine here but you’ll find as many burritos, enchilladas and fajitas as you might hope for, and cooked to a reasonable standard. Loads of cocktails(go during happy hour if that’s your bag), a vibrant atmosphere on Friday and Saturday nights, and reliable food — if you enjoy Tex Mex you’ll be happy with this. On the negative side, it can be a bit downbeat during the week, and the service can be hit-and-miss at times. But it’s the only Mexican in Epsom and it ticks the boxes that you’d expect it to tick. Go with a group of friends, preferably in happy hour, and you’ll enjoy yourselves. And try the chicken quesadilla; it’s oddly delicious.

After passing this restaurant a thousand times, I thought it was time I tried it. I was pleasantly surprised because it doesn’t really look much from outside, a bit run down if anything. The atmosphere in there is quite lively, there was a guy playing live Mexican music on a guitar which was a nice touch. Lots of sombreros/Mexican flags etc hanging up around the place as well. I started with classic nachos to start with a friend — i think it was almost enough for a main dish for both of us. Very nice, albeit filling. I had ‘Mexican Chicken’ for my main dish. It’s Chicken, corn, peppers, beans in a spicey tomatoey sauce served with rice with peas. It was absolutely delicious, I’d definitely recommend it to others. My friend had chicken and steak fajitas, but she said there weren’t enough wraps — i think only 4 small ones which was quite odd. Neither of us could have dessert after because we were so full from the nachos and our main dish. The cocktail menu looked really good and they were presented well. I stuck with a diet coke and didn’t try any, but I definitely will next time I go. The only problem was there was only 3 non-alcoholic cocktails which puts me off slightly. The prices were pretty good if you compare them to other restaurants that serve cocktails. It wasn’t the best Tex-Mex food I’ve tasted but it’s much better than others I’ve been in, and far better than the chain Chiquitos(which I admit I’m quite partial to now and again)

I’m reviewing Los Amigos Mexican restaurant, not the nearby café, which incidentally is also owned by the same company Having heard some good things from friends, I decided to give Los Amigos a try. As there isn’t parking in the immediate vicinity, I strolled down They have tried to create a Mexican feel with sombreros hanging up everywhere Perhaps the best thing is their comprehensive menu of proper cocktails. During Happy Hour, the regular cocktails are all £3.50. My virgin piña colada was good and my friend was happy with her Singapore Gin Sling We shared a tostada to start — chorizo and prawns were served on a corn cracker with pinto beans. The toppings were nice though the guacamole didn’t taste homemade. The waiter had failed to ask how I wanted my rib eye cooked and I waited until he was about to leave the table before telling him. Could do better there. The steak lacked the normal bone that rib eye has but was quite flavourful. The pepper sauce was quite glutinous. My friend’s salmon was overcooked by a lot and the pairing with bearnaise sauce tasted a bit odd So a brave attempt to introduce a new genre of food to Epsom but only an average dining experience.
