CONSISTENTLYINCOMPETENT Whilst I found the prices of refreshments to be off the scale of shocking, I could live with that as you can choose to buy them or not. What was much worse was that every Odeon Epsom employee I interacted with was incompetent and rude. It’s almost like they were all trained to be uniformly that way — a sort of anti-customer service pilot perhaps? The coffee bar staff took about three times longer to make a coffee than normal, then got the orders wrong as they had the person in front of us. They had three people standing behind one till at the refreshments whilst people queued up. The ticket collection lady was busy chatting with her friend and only called us back to see our tickets when we had got halfway up the stairs carrying my children. The lady who was showing people to seats in the screening area couldn’t find our seats and I had to point out to her how the alphabet works. I’m glad there wasn’t a fire!

This site on the Upper High Street in Epsom has had a varied history — it was home to a succession of cheap supermarkets until Odeon took it over to build the cinema. It’s nice to have a cinema locally, which shows the latest movies even if it doesn’t have the largest screens. However, the seats are nicely banked and it’s quite comfortable. There’s the usual concession stand as well as a small Ben & Jerrys outlet, which does ice cream and juices. As mentioned by Charlotte R, the main issue seems to be staffing. Sometimes, you have to buy your tickets at the concession stand. The staff ratio seems to be low and they struggle to keep the place clean. Also, boo to Odeon for their policy of charging more for tickets on Friday evening and the weekend.

I used to go to this Odeon quite often about 10 years ago. I ventured back to see Avatar a few months ago and I will never go back(and it wasn’t just the film that put me off). First of all, I walked in and there were teenagers just hanging around in the lobby. Not doing anything, just lurking. There was popcorn all over the floor too(you expect this to some extent but nowhere near as bad as it was). When we got to the screen, we took our seats and I felt i had to sit with my coat and handbag on my lap and holding my drink the whole time(and Avatar is one long film to be sitting uncomfortably). The floor of the screen was covered in popcorn, sweets and just looked filthy. You’d think the amount of staff they have lingering around the cinema they could get someone to shove a hoover around. The drinks holder were sticky and so i didn’t want to put anything in it in case it got stuck! When we came out of the screen(so many HOURS later), the lobby and rest of the cinema itself was quiet, but absolutely filthy. There was popcorn, sweets, drinks spilt and chewing gum all over the place. I wrote to Odeon a day or so after my visit complaining about the situation, and was told they would get back to me ‘within 48 hours’. Well, it’s months later and I’m still waiting…

This is a decent cinema, with a good selection of the most current films and at decent times. I find it slightly expensive for the cost of tickets but more importantly the cost of foodMy partner and I went recently to see Ghost-Town and the whole thing cost nearly £40…That’s expensive. The cinema itself is comfortable with decent chairs and a reasonable amount of room between rows. The toilets are grotty and need a complete overaul.

We went to watch The Wild with our then 3 year old some years back and it was a very nice experience. The cinema was nice and clean, and the film started on time without too many previews. There was quite a good selection of food and it wasn’t too expensive either. Staff were polite and smiley. We bought our tickets online so the process was very quick and we could walk straight in. Would recommend it.
