Roosters has taken over the space occupied previously by an Italian restaurant
Roosters is part of a chain of chicken shops but the décor here is newer than some of their older branches. You certainly get a bright and clean buzz when you walk in through the door, which I found welcoming
This is backed up by the friendly staff, who will help to explain the menu. Trying to compete in the Nandos rather than KFC market, they offer mainly chicken in a wide variety of forms — as chicken portions, as wings, as satay on skewers, in wraps and pita. The chicken comes with a variety of sauces of different heat and also with other flavourings like Lebanese, Mexican and tikka. If none of these float your boat, there is also sirloin steak, satay prawns, lamb kebabs, grilled veg & halloumi and falafel
In fact, the variety was a little overwhelming and when you then factor in whether to get standard additions or order sides likerice, coleslaw, salad or corn on the cob a la carte, it can be confusing though the staff try and help you. I think some simplification of the ordering process and options would help
My friend and I opted in the end for quarter of the normal chicken, a Lebanese chicken wrap, some hot wings, some prawn satay skewers, corn on the cob, tuk tuk dip (cream cheese, sweet chilli & coriander) and a mango milkshake. The food generally had nice flavour and the chicken and prawn were moist. The only disappointment was the corn on the cob, which was a litlte chewy reflecting the fact that it’s cooked on the grill, I think
Overall, a great addition to the dining scene in Epsom. With its greater variety of food options, I think it’s superior to its closest rival, Nandos

Just visited today, more out of curiosity than need. Received a warm greeting. Thought I‘d try something different. did place an order, was informed of the waiting time, was not in a hurry, and was accompanied by the Mangeress to my seat. Had a chat with her, as I knew next to nothing about this franchise.
