This pub is more about food than drink. However, the food is excellent if you can afford the prices. I ordered the belly pork and received almost an entire roast pork joint. Together with three large roast potatoes and peas and beans I struggled to finish it. It cost £13.85 which I still think is excellent value. The service was also very good, so I was very satisfied. The beer choice is average, Doom Bar and Old Golden Hen. The place was crowded on a Saturday lunchtime. There is a good sized car park but it can get full. The Rubbing House is child friendly and has good disability access.

My by-annual visit happened to be Mothers Day, therefore it was busy, and the new menu tempted me so I went for The Goulash, which I experienced before, not here, but elsewhere, and I simply could remember how that tasted, not that I can taste a lot anyway! Anyway my friend Zac was there again, and I always like him to be around as he always conducts the proceedings excellently.

I only attend here about twice a year, but it is good to see Zac as I know and respect him still overseeing operations!

Came here last weekend. Mediocre venue and uninspiring food to match. Large pub in a lovely setting near Epsom racecourse, but as soon as you go in, you are disappointed. It’s just a pub. I had the sausages and mash. Nothing special at all. My friend had the duck wraps which she enjoyed. I’m not coming back, ever.

Great views, love the garden area and consistently good pub food whenever we have been worth going for a drink just for the views of Epsom racecourse.

Good pub food. Been there a few times recently and have been happy on alloccasions. Service is quick, staff are attentive but not too much. This is a busy place and fast moving with good honest pub food, portion sizes are good and prices reasonable. You can’t book for less than 8 people so need to plan not to arrive at peak times or you will have to wait for a table.

Clean and tidy pub which really is there to suit diners. The food is excellent with some excellent Greek dishes which can surprise, as well as the best of British family cuisine. The staff are friendly and fairly attentive. The lines seem cleaned well for the beer and the selection of beers is quite good.

In the week of the Epsom Derby, this is the perfect time to review the Rubbing House. Before anyone gets too hot and bothered, this is a pub!!! They advertise themselves as the only pub in the world on a racecourse. You do get a great view of Epsom Downs and the racecourse. The drinks aren’t too expensive but I’m not sure if they rise fo Derby week! They also do reasonable food with the usual mish mash of food from around the globe. If you can get in early, this would be a good place to drink this Saturday at the Derby

On a visit from the USA my son and I stayed there in 1980. It was FABULOUS, and the food was great !! Of course, I admit that I may be a little predudiced as my brother and his wife were running it at that time.(We watched the race from the balcony and had the winner) What a day !!! HOWEVER.My brother has long since been retired. I visited the place again on a more recent visit to the UK in 2004 What a SHOCK !! The place was so delapidated and shabby, I hardly recognised it. It was so sad to see. I will visit this site again when I have a photo to share from 1980. The Rubbing House deserves to be restored to it’s original grandeur.

I live not too far from Espom Downs and always look forward to summer coming around to have the opportunity to sit outside overlooking the Epsom Downs — not many pub views can beat this one. Whenever i have eaten at Rubbing house i have always had a really nice experience — i would recommend the souvlaki as it is nice and filling. There are a few rules to entering the bar, such as no hats, n work boots but this just makes it a nicer experience. Very popular with the older generation.

The Rubbing House has everything: glamorous location with stunning views(particularly in summer) good food and helpful staff. I had to wait a little while to get a table but when I did I was pleasantly surprised. A lovely soup followed by an authentic Greek souvlaki made it a trip worth taking. A must visit for pub and restaurant fans visiting Epsom.

The views from this restaurant is absoultely amazing of the Epsom racecourse. Prices are quite high because of it’s location and special occassion should be booked. In the summer the garden area is beautiful and you can often see horses going round the track. All round the restaurant are huge windows providing an excellent view and provides very popular on Derby Day.
