The Playhouse is one of Erith’s landmarks and has been a big part of the community ever since I can remember. It is run largely by volunteers who are all passionate about theatre and do their best to ensure high quality productions. If you’re into theatre then why not take part yourself either helping out behind the scenes or at the front of the house. You can also audition for parts if you are a young actor wishing to get a few more shows on your portfolio. Details of how are on their website. As a visitor I have enjoyed a few productions here. The main auditorium feels historic with that musky smell to it which is somewhat relaxing. The front of house and bar have a really enthusiastic buzz about them which enhances the theatre going experience. It is a warm and friendly place which appreciates the custom and people seeing the shows. Parking is available in the Morrison’s car park around the corner and pre show drinks are available either at the bar in the theatre or at Potion next door.
