river dart country park

This country park is beside the River Dart in Ashburton on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon. There is a campsite and cottages for on site accommodation or it can be visited as a day trip. The setting is an old estate and their are child oriented family outdoor activities set throughout the grounds, with something for all ages of kids, from toddler areas up to some fairly daring stuff for teens. There are assault courses throught the trees, zip slides, pirate ship in the lake, (bit stony-​use beach shoes/​crocks) wooden forts etc. It’s all made of wood, and is a lovely, natural setting in woodland for an old fashioned fun family day out. Its the sort of place where kids feel they’ve done something a bit brave and builds confidence but is safe. There are also bookable activities such as canoeing, climbing and high ropes for the really adventurous.
