I was kind of skeptical about this place because 1) it was offering a super cheap lunch special &2) it didn’t look very authentically«Indian.» I was very wrong. It was cheap and good Indian food. And a lot of it too. The lunch special came with a large variety of sides and the actual entrée was pretty large as well. I got the lamb curry, which was good. I also tried my friend’s lamb vindaloo, which was pretty spicy but also good. For cheap eats in Exeter, I recommend.

Nice food and surroundings, shame about the service. I visited here on a business trip with a couple of colleagues after reading some good reviews. At points it actually felt like we were being ignored, one waiter in particular was aloof to the point that he might as well have been attending an empty table, not acknowledging our presence, reaching over us as we were eating and not a peep out of him. Sort the rubbish service out and this would be a nice place. Not returning.

Decent curry. Had a Tikka Masala and it was nothing spectacular. Staff was really friendly, but I’m not sure all the neon lights used for decoration ads anything. If anything, the water features combined with all the neon lights make it look a little tacky. I’ll go again, if I’m in Exeter & fancy Indian food, but the restaurant itself didn’t add anything for me.

Had a meal at the Ganges on our recent trip to Exeter, Devon. I found this restaurant using my Curry finder app on my iPhone and I must say it was a great find, a truly excellent restaurant amazing décor, a really varied menu with lots of seafood dishes at at a very reasonable price, a must if you are in Exeter

I’ve been visiting the Ganges on and off for many years now, due to a friend living in close proximity to the place, and I’ve never had a bad meal or experience. Having sampled several other curry houses in Exeter, this is still probably the one to beat. There’s a good mixture of classics and interesting specials on the menu, and their naan breads are excellent. A recent(sober) stag party was catered for with no problems, while the 11 hungry men all proclaimed themselves full and satisfied with the range of curries. Have slowly been moving upmarket, but not at the expense of the food. Always a good meal and a great evening out, both for large parties or a quiet, quick meal.

Recently refirbished premises with funky lighting and nice lavs downstairs. Food less oily than before refurb, but still very oily masking flavours. 5⁄10 Easy access park up road
